Go here and choose an audio driver for your system. http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/ussoho1 I believe the top one of the two "audio" choices is the right one for your laptop...Download it and install it. That should fix the issue you are having. let me know hope this helps you!
OPEN YOUR "CONTROL PANEL"...THEN OPEN "HARDWARE AND SOUND" 2. LOOK FOR AND CLICK OPEN "DEVICE MANAGER" 3. SCROLL DOWN TO '' SOUND,VIDEO AND GAME CONTROLLER'' 4. RIGHT CLICK "SOUND VIDEO AND GAME OPTION"...THEN AN OPTION WILL COME UP SAYING..."SCAN FOR HARDWARE CHANGES"...CLICK IT
check the device manager and make sure the the audio device is detected. you need to know who the manufacturer of the sound card so you can download the driver and install it.
Obviously you have a soundcard installed on your computer , but your computer does not recognize it....what you need is the "driver" for your sound card. The driver is the software that allows your computer to recognize and communicate with the hardware (your soundcard in this case).
That is the software for the soundcard , simply download it and launch the file...it will setup everything for you and give you your sound back!! If you have any trouble installing it feel free to leave a comment here and I can assist you further!

my computer has no sound. I tried reinstalling the driver to no avail. I get a code 10 error 'the device cannot start' from the device manager.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you....
