I recently loaded shonkymaps on my nuvi 350 and lost the preloaded maps. I tried to reset the unit by pressing on the bottom right hand side of the screen and then holding down the power button. It went thru this sequence

loading
loading maps and then over and over again. I never got the white screen with the dot. Please help.
You need to do a hard reset.

You need to buy a preloaded SD card, purchase maps from Garmin and download them to a blank SD card.

The touch screen lays on top of the LCD display. It has its own flex cable that plugs into the main board. It is possible for the LCD display to work fine while the touch screen does not. They are two separate parts and work independently!
If your touch screen all of a sudden quit working, I would ask did you ever drop it?
I have repaired many Nuvi's with a non-functioning touch screen. I can't speak for every instance but the ones i took apart, the flex screen cable was loose from the main board.

This is easy. You have to run your software, select the maps tap and then transfer maps to the device. Chances are good you uploaded a 2009 map on top of the 2008 map. The updater doesn't delete maps.
Your unl file only has one key, you have two maps loaded. Simple go into the garmin directory and delete the map file and the mapsupp file. You can easily find them because they are greater than 500 mb.
Then run mapinstall (google for the file). This will install your most current map to the Nuvi. You are back in business.

Contact Garmins Tech support hot Line they will walk you through the process and if they can't fix it over the phone they will send you a disk that will completely fix the "NO detailed maps found that support routing" I have contacted them with the same problem and the disc was free of charge.

Sharcnet I think the problem is that I overwrote the gmapsupp.img file with the new map. I have changed the file to gmapsupp1.img hoping I might be able to get someone or garmin to send me the original file. I have removed the maps from the device so there are none on the 350. Any help will be appreciated.

The problem is that the map file is 1GB in size. I have heard that if you call Garmin, they have sent people a copy of the lost map file. You need to specify what year the map was... 2008....2009....I am sure they will ask for your serial number and confirm that your Nuvi is registered to you.
