My amp stays in protection mode

Hi, im running 2x jvc subs(1000watts each) and amp Dream Audio (1800watts 4channel)
was playing my sound on hot day and it just cut and the amp went into protection mode. felt amp and it was very hot.
i opened it up and cant see anything wrong but the protection light stays on when i connect it again?
i took it to a friend and he tested it and the green power light went on but when i connected it back to the car it wouldnt play and the red protection light came on.
i have checked the connections and the power cable is fine, the remote is also ok and the ground is fixed to bare metal in the car.
please help!

Disconnect all speaker connections and rca cables. Leave power, ground and remote wires intact. Try turning on again. If you still have a protection light your amp is faulty. Hopefully you have warranty . Might be ready for an old .A thumbs up would be greatly appreciated if this answer is helpful to you. my amp stays in protection mode - amp-stays-in-protection-mode-zb4bomd1rt4qms0dqd12kkt2-3-0.png

Alpine MRP-T220 car amp. When I turn on the JVC stereo, the amp plays for a split second then dies. The power light stays on, and the fuses from the battery and the amp are fine. It always worked...

Yes your amplifier is stable @ 2OHM but only in stereo mode. If you are running the amplifier in BRIDGE mode then the amplifier is stable only @ 4OHM. So if you are running a sub woofer and it requires a 2 Ohm mono load then the amplifier has either been damaged or is trying to protect itself from the wrong OHM load. You could also make sure that your GND is secured properly, as some times it could come lose from vibration and not offer a decent ground for the system. dreamsystems.

My amp is protecting unessacarily when ran at 2 ohms

are you factoring the ohm rating from running them parallel?

2 x 2o subs parallel = 0.5 ohm (lowers ohm's)

2x 2oh subs series = 4 ohm

IT is posable that you are calculating the ohm rating fine, BUT some SUBS can reach lower ohm rating while hitting bass- i didnt know this till i had a rather insane sub that would dip to 1ohm while hitting hard bass causing my amp to go into protect mode.

INFINITY AMP PROTECTION LIGHT FLASHING

Overload maybe. If the amp is run at an improper impedence, the amp will shut down. If you are "CLIPPING" speakers / subwoofers the light will blink to indicate a hard clip . Example: 4ohm/2ohm stable amp with 4 ohm subs wired at 1 ohm.

Kenwood amp kac-x401m

How long will the bass play before the amp kicks into protection mode and how loud are you listening to it? I've noticed with my amps that if they don't have enough air flow they will get hot and kick into protection mode. They will also kick into protection mode if you are running it at more than it can handle. Check your adjustments on both your amp and the head unit. Make sure you are not running more bass than the amp can handle.

It's very likely that the output transistors have failed in the amp. They will need to be replaced.

Amp heats up and goes into protect mode

Hi Saint108. You're describing it well, and i know what the problem is already. The MA audio amp, can't hold with a 2 ohm load. It's too low for that amp, that's for sure. Those are budget amps and they are not well built enough to handle low ohm setups like that. It's overheating and there's no ways around it.. Other than wiring your subs differently ! Just wire your sub directly (not in parallel) in a 4 ohm load, you will notice it will stop overheating that much. Do it quick, you'll most likely fry your amp giving it such hard work !! The HUM you're hearing could be related to it also. Try that, and keep me posted on the status. Thanks ! Cheebster.
