SOURCE: Amp on "protect" mode

Hi, what you need to do is unplug all the connections to the amp. The amp goes into protection when the circuitry over heats.\
First decrease all your gains to minimal volume.
Connect your 12+V, remote, and ground.
See if the protection light comes on then.
Next plug in your RCA cables.
Check protection light.
Then plug in your subwoofer cables.
See if you are still in protect mode.
Hopefully everything works alright again.
Just slowly increase the gain to see what the cut-off is. Make sure you aren't dropping the ohmage too low on the amplifier. Check manual for correct wiring and such.

meter the power side of the amp. sometimes the amp will go into protect if it doesnt have power. if power and remote and ground are good the amp is probably bad.

What does my protection light come on after hooking everything up

There is something shorting out the amp. What you will need to do is disconect all wires and hook up one at a time. Connect ground, !2 volt and remote see if amp turns on ok. If it does try connecting each speaker seperately to see if either one sends the amp into protect mode. Then connect the rca. See what causes the amp to go into protect mode.

I hooked up 2 capacitors into my amp and every time I put power to it the amp shuts off and 10 seconds later a red light comes on for 5 seconds and the amp don't turn on, basically it goes into protect...

Well, I have no idea why you would have two capacitors on a 500 watt amp but, did you charge the capacitors? Have you tried the amp without the capacitors? What size power wire are you using?

Havin problem with a1200 class a/b amp it ligts green and red at same time after hooking in remote how doi fixdo i need diagram to fix

Make sure you don't have any shorts on your speaker wires or rca cables. Unplug one at a time, the turn on power until it stays green with no protect light, then you know what input is causing the short. If you remove all speaker wires and rca wires and all you have connected is the ground, power(12volts) and remote and it still lights up red/green(in protect mode) then your problem is the amp.

Your amp could be in protection mode! Sometimes turning up to high or wires touching will put in protection mode! It will have to be unplugged for a day or two to drain all power out of the memory. Leave accessorie/ignition wire hooked up, just not power and ground wiring. It should reset itself.

Green light (protection mode) on, NO red light (ready)

double check your wires aren't shorting out or power or remote wires aren't grounding. check if speakers are blown with nine volt battery

Fusion amp soild bold red when the radio comes on

The amplifier is in protection mode.
3 reasons for this...

  1. Improper Load/overheat - wrong impedence voicecoils or wired improperly below rated impedence.
  2. Grounded Power - speaker wires touching, power wire touching ground,
  3. Internal component failure.
if the amplifier will still not go out of protect mode after removing the speakers and jumpering the remote wire to the + terminal - your amplifier needs professional repair.

Red protection light

If the amp is going into protect mode, it probably has shorted output transistors. To eliminate other possible problems, do the following.

With your multimeter set to DC volts, the black meter lead on the ground terminal of the amp (not on the point where the ground wire connected to the vehicle) and the head unit on (so the amp will have remote voltage applied), touch the red lead alternately to the B+ and remote terminals of the amp. If the voltage is below ~11 volts, you need to check the wiring feeding whichever line is too low.

If the voltage remains near or above 12v, disconnect all speaker wires from the speaker terminals of the amp and disconnect signal cables from the amp. If it powers up, the wiring needs to be checked. If it still shuts down, the amp almost certainly has shorted output transistors and will need to be repaired.
