Hello,
I just purchased the Epson Stylus CX6600 All in one Ink Jet printer and printed two pages. Then the indicator for the ink was showing low on the pink cartridge and a Big red X E-01 on the Black cartridge.
Is this normal, to get only two pages? Then I must go out and buy the new cartridges?
Please explain
Hi Teetle,
No, it not normal to only get two pages per cartridge. I would try the following before contacting Epson tech support:
-Remove the cartridges and clean the contacts on both the printer and cartridge.
-Reinsert each cartridge making sure it is seated correctly.
-Buy one black cartridge and install. It is possible that the cartridge is defective but since the magenta cartridge is showing low its unlikely. Tech support will want you to try it before they will replace the printer so you?re best off trying it now.
If after trying this steps there is no change and if you?ve had it for less than 7 days I would talk to your retail store. Usually they will just trade your defective unit for one in stock. If you have had it longer contact Epson support and explain what it happening and what you?ve done. Make sure you mention you?ve bought a new Epson black cartridge with no change.

If you left the printer idle for long time without switching it ON some more days the ink will get dry.So after trying to take print, the liquid ink won't flow through the micro head nozzles.Apart from this ,the head also contains some circutary problem,or it even be solved by just pushing it with liquid(only avail at service centrres). So better to service the printer in nearest service centre.
Try taking a new cartridge out and shaking it ( with your finger over the hole that the ink comes out) and then put it back in. Also make sure that the tape that is over some cartridges' printing area has been removed.
if you left your printer for two weeks or more without using, the print heads may be stuffiness. In this case (aparently yours cases) you must take your printer to a authorized service, they will can clean (with a proper fluid) or replace the ink heads, if cleaning is not possible.
I just got the same problem with real Epson ink. There were some solutions posted under "not printing" that you might try. I haven't yet, but I am going to reload the printer driver tonight.
