I just installed a windows xp and my speakers i got with the copmuter are not working

you can always try the windows me driver if hp does not have the driver on their support site

A Windows install will not work with a new motherboard. You will have to do a Repair install.

set your card to 5.1 using the mfg software
ie soundblaster must have sound blaster software from mfg not the windows drivers microsoft will only add drivers it will not usualy install 3rd party control software

You may need to install the audio drivers for those systems. If the sound is built onto the mainboard, you'll need the motherboard model number to help locate the drivers online. You can look for them yourself through a search engine, or if you'd like, get back to me with the model numbers of the motherboards, and I will locate your drivers. The model number of the motherboard should be printed directly on the motherboard itself.

If you are using Windows Xp ,then go to

Startmenu->Control panel->click:sound and audio devices
A window should open.
If you see anywhere in the window, written ,
"no audio devices installed",
then you need to install the sound driver .

This is curruption in windows partition, most probably because of a virus. do following

1. take backup of your important data
2. use a good antivirus and scan PC
3. if dosent work delete all partitions using thirdparty SW like diskmanager or Linux Bootable or another windows xp PC
4. Reinstall windows and reportition.
5. Try with another pair of RAM
6. Pl dont forget to all device drivers/motherboard drivers before trying

there is nothing wrong with the speakers.
install the audio drivers from the mother board cd

have you tried going into your master volume contro properties and turned everything up there. If you double click on your volume control near the time and go to properties you'll find all the controls there. Let me know if that works for you.
