I had this problem with my Silvercrest kitchen scales model z30170. Being wall mounted the weighing platform was on a fold-down flap . It turned out to be a broken wire in the hinge joint.
I recommend you look
in your local yellow pages for a scale company. Calibration
is very easy to do, but we recommend that you bring the scale
to a local scale company. All unit sold by Precision Weighing
Balances are factory calibrated and should provide you trouble
free weighing for many, many years.
magnum 1000xr pocket scales turns on calibrates goes to different modes but wont show the weight when object placed on the scale,a lock appears in top left of window, is scales broke or do i have to make lock symble dissappear?
Try to reset the unit. Use the following steps - Open the battery compartment on the bottom of the scale. Push the tab on the door and lift the cover. - Remove the battery from the compartment. Close the battery compartment door. - Sit the scale right side up on a hard surface floor. - Step on the scale and stand still on it for five to ten seconds. Step off the scale. - Turn the scale over and open the battery compartment. Re-insert the battery. Close the battery compartment cover. - Place the scale right side up on the hard surface floor. - Press one foot on the scale until the display shows zeroes or dashes. Remove your foot. - Wait for the scale to shut off by itself. When you step back onto the scale, it will be reset. Hope this solution has been helpful?
Take a 5 pound bag of sugar, flour or what have you. Put it on the scale. If it is off, turn the scale so that you can check every possible place for an adjustment. Adjust and go for it!!! Good luck...Lee
The scale must be on a hard, level surface. Make sure there is absolutely no dirt on any of the pivot points. Calibrate it with a KNOWN 25 pound weight.
Sounds like it wasn't initialized, even though it says Er 4 instead of Er 0... According to my manual, to (re)initialize it and reset it to zero, tap the platform lightly. It should show zeroes running across the display for a second or two, then show all zeroes and turn off. It should be re-initialized...
Error Codes for the 5757 (according to my manual):
Er 0 Initialization error (remedy described above)
Er 1 Instability error (step off the scale, then back on)
Er 2 Overload warning (registering weight beyond the 440 pound max)
Er 3 Contact error (body impedance beyond technical limit - try dampening feet and try again for better contact)
Er 4 Bodyfat error (bodyfat percentage is beyond range - try dampening feet and try again for better contact)
Er 5 Bodywater error (bodywater percentage is beyond range - try dampening feet and try again for better contact)
the scales may have a malfuction to it, perhaps wherever you brought it may have dropped it and put it on the shelve anyway and also you may want to see if it has a reset button that may reset it and if none of that works if you havent had it long and still have the receipt take it back to where you got it and if you dont have it just get an exchange. hope ive helped in some way, let me know and good luck!
