when the unit runs on a hot day 85 degrees it makes a rattle noise like something is loose a tech says its a bad bearing and not a valve and the whole unit has to be replaced when it runs it will do it for 3 or 4 seconds and not make it again for 3 or 4 min

yesterday a tech came out to our house to look at our unit he ran it for 45 minutes, and i could not here any noise that i herd when it was 90 degrees, it was only 70 degrees and he said only a trained tech could hear a bad bearing and it would last maybe a day or all summer and i will see you shortly then he went downstairs to our basement looked at our furnace and said we have a bad heat exchanger that carrier furnace has a history of rusting out and letting out carbon monoxide, and the furnace was under warranty a 1999 model and he would order replacement parts and i would only have to pay for labor what do you guys think i looked them up on the internet they are not approved by the bbb

Hello, usually that is a sign of liquid refrigerant entering the compressor. Before condemimg the compressor I would have them check the refrigersnt charge to make sure the unit is not overcharged and check that the airflow is good. If those are checked out to be good the unfortunatly a new compressor will be needed.

A condenser fan motor has nothing to do with the heat exchanger. Honestly he might be trying to rip you off. i would get a second opinion from a differant company.

I have a carrier AC unit Model no. 52SQC312301aa .when i turn on it buzzs then clicks off nothing else works

I would think the condensor motor bearings are worn. Try testing for end play and side to side play of the condensor motor shaft, with the power disconnected.

Carrier 38CKC front on unit

I had a similar issue, albeit a different brand of air condenser, and it turned out to be a relay capacitor that controlled the valve I suspect you are speaking of. However, I did have both the valve and capacitor replaced...just to be safe.

Air conditioner model # 38ckc 42..350 not working, keeps tripping the breakers, had electrician check out and stated it was the fan or the compressor, i bought the house in 2009, was built in 2005, what do...

Hi, if that is a 2005 carrier condenser, it may still have a warranty on the compressor. You need to copy down model and serial #, call the local Carrier rep and ask. That is your right to do so. The fan is probably not in warranty, but it is definitely worth replacing if it is bad. I sold carrier for 15 years, and sold many with 10 year parts warranty. First thing you need to do if you haven't done so is check on your warranty! If you can explain what it is doing a little more in detail I could probably tell you exactly what is wrong. Hope this helps.
