The "ink system failure" error is caused by air in the ink feed tubes. We have 2 articles posted on our web site giving step by step guides to purging the air from the tubes and clearing the error. This document applies to the HP Photosmart C6150, C6170, C6175, C6180, C6183, C6185, C6186, and C6188 All-in One.
Issue
An 0xc18xxxxx or 0xc19xxxxx ink system error code displays on the front panel. The all-in-one cannot copy, receive faxes, or print.
Solution

1. Press the On button to turn the all-in-one off.
2. Unplug the power cord from the back of the all-in-one.
3. Remove all the ink cartridges.
4. Wait two minutes.
5. Plug the power cord into the back of the all-in-one.
6. Press the On button to turn the all-in-one on.
7. Install the ink cartridges when prompted.

If the error code does not display, the issue is resolved.
If the 0xc18xxxxx or 0xc19xxxxx ink system error code displays on the front panel, service the all-in-one.

Not sure how to help you. Ink failure I would think is cartridge failure. Are you original virgin cartridges or refills? I need the actual error message that the printer is giving.

HP Photosmart C7180 will not accept new '02' yellow ink cartridge and repeatedly states 'printer does not have enough ink to ensure printer health. The empty ink cartridge must be replaced to resume.' This is the 2nd HP '02'yellow I've bought and it continues to say the same.
