SOURCE: How do turn the temp up on a norlake walkin?

They are usually mounted on the front panel of the evaporator or mounted on the wall behind the evaporator. There is a possibility that the temp. control is at the condenser, and the sensing bulb was slipped thru the wall.Look for the bulb at the back of the evaporator and follow the cap tube.

try covering the hose in the bottom of the door with tape or remove the plugs and glue them shut.also the diffuser plate in the back of the freezer should be changed if you can not change it cover those holes with some aluminum tape.the insulation in the door panel should aslo be replaced there is a chance of ice built up in the door liner

SOURCE: I have a fairly new (4 years old) frost free

Good day,
Refrigerators and freezers have heaters imbedded in them to prevent sweating.
Years ago, they used low wattage heaters to do this.
Now, to conserve energy, instead of electric heaters they use the the discharge line off of the compressor which gets hot, and run it throughout the perimeter of the box to save energy.
In cold weather, if the compressor runs very little this type of heating system could be ineffective. One posiibility.
The second is the insulation, inside the walls is breaking down. Same type of effect. This problem should be under the 5 year part of your warranty, but you'll have to check with the selling dealer.

Domestic machines are designed for interior applications. That is, in an area populated by people.
I.E. 70 to 95 degrees.
The only test I know of, is to move it inside, or wait for warmer weather.
A good selling dealer who hopes for future business from you, if contacted, may be willing to research this particular make and model, with their service dept. and advise you without having to pay for a service call.

Thank you for using FixYa

SOURCE: norlake freezer 6x6 not freezing enough

Normally freezers are kept at zero. Most health departments will not allow the temp to be higher than plus 10. If you want to store ice cream, you need to be at minus 10 degrees to minus 15 degrees.

let me know if I can be of any further help.

I have a Frigidaire freezer that is about 5 years old. I get ice build up inside the top of the door. The door appears to be closed.

Hello;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

1.) Due you have the freezer in your garage? Freezers and refrigerators are not designed for the drastic temperature change through the seasons. If you had a service contract, your contract would be canceled.

2.) If you can run a piece of paper between the top door gasket and the freezer body you do not have a tight seal. Repair - Recondition the gasket. Wet the door gasket with water, with a hairy dryer heat the gasket while genteelly pulling the gasket out to expand with a spatula.

3.) If the gasket is good, then you are getting moisture either thru the top front of the unit or the top of the door.
a.) Inspect the liner where the ice build-up is. Are there cracks? Repair - Seal cracks with a good silicone adhesive.
b.) Inspect the upper door section and the front top of the freezer for possible leaks in the joints. Here again seal with adhesive.
c.) If the top of the door is expanded, then you have moisture in the door and need to replace the door. You will never get the moisture out of the insulating material.

Replaced gasket twice; still ices up around door.

If you replaced your door gasket and your absolutely sure that its sealing properly, then it might not be coming from your door. Ice builds up when warm air enters the fridge and the condensation freezes inside the freezer. The biggest suspect for warm air entering into the fridge is a faulty door gasket. However there can be another cause. If you remove the back panel of your freezer you should be exposed with the wires that come into the freezer and power the different components inside. The entrance point were the wires come in is insulated with a type of clay that prevents moisture from entering. However if this clay becomes loose it is possible for moisture to enter and start icing up. If you can remove the panel yourself safely without hurting yourself or damaging the fridge i recommand trying this first. If you don't feel comfortable doing this i recommand having a service technician taking a look at it. Hope this helps.

Freezer won't shut off

Hi John,

The symptoms do indicate a failed thermostat.

I am not sure where you could get a thermostat for this freezer but I would try contacting Norlake first. They may guide you to who has one or maybe they can sell you one. If it is a direct replacement it is something that you can do yourself.

you probably have an air leak. if the gasket is bad it needs to be replaced. Air could also be coming in through the door flap if you have water and ice dispensor on door

I have a 6x6 norlake walk in freezer. The door remained open for 6-7 hours by mistake and now temperature does not go below 15 degrees. The technician told me to replace compressor as slowly temperature...

I've worked on freezers for over 20 years and have never heard of a compressor going bad because the door was left open. think about a second opinion.
Also, has the cooling coil inside the box developed and frost or ice build up? If so, it needs to be completely defrosted. If you defrost it manually, use a hose hooked up to hot water. Kill all power and hose all build up off. Remove the sheet metal housing ends and be sure there is no ice inside there too. I would go in this direction first.
IN order to kill a compressor under this condition, something really strange must have happened as anything is possible in a refrigeration system. Good luck and hope this helps.

Is it worth replacing a door gasket on a 25 year old freezer. It is a Kenmore 6. Upright. It does not seal tight anymore.

Is the door gasket torn?? if not try cleaning the rubber surface that makes contact with the metal portion of the fridge and clean the metal area also, because inside the rubber gasket is a magnet that helps the gasket seal properly.I've seen door gaskets range in price from $50.00-$100.00 so if thats the only problem it sure beats buying a new fridge for a whole lot more money.

Nor-Lake t3000 freezer - door HOT

The door frame heater is probably damaged and grounded. Unfortunately, it is still energized causing less than the entire heater being utilized which will cause an extremely hot condition. I would look at replacing it. It is a pain to do but with some patience, it can be done.

Good luck and hope this helps.

Possibly something was spilled and it got to the door gasket. Clean the door gasket area with warm soapy water. In the door there is nothing critical to the system operation that should cause the condition you have.

Norlake walk in fridge

Yes if the evaporator drain is blocked or not attached correctly it causes the humidity to remain in the refridgerator. Just opening the door will cause the warm are to enter and cause the symtoms of rain if the water is not taken out the drain properly.Hope this helps JT
