Blinking AC light with/without battery, computer shuts down

Been having a problem with my laptop lately. The laptop shut down unexpectedly and the blue AC light (furthermost to the left) started blinking. I removed the battery and AC power, then reinstalled the battery and plugged in the AC power. The laptop boots up then after about 60 seconds, turns off again and the AC light starts blinking again. it will not allow me to restart without disconnecting the battery/ac power cord. i just replaced the AC cord and the same problem persists. I have cleaned out the heat sinks/fan with a strong vaccum and compressed air without luck. any thoughts?

Thanks for the reply but it is not going to standby mode, it is just loosing power without saving anything or going into hibernation mode. In addition, a call to the tech support people yielded nothing. we tried to remove the battery and hold down the power button for 10 seconds, which resets the system with no improvement. they suggested taking it to a local repair shop because sending it back to toshiba would cost "$475.00". Just trying to find a direction to try that i can attempt to fix myself...

I have the same problem. I replaced the AC adapter and it did not work.
The laptop will not come on at all, the blue light just blinks.

I want to try a very simple thing, cause it happened to me, while I am working on my computer , it shut down unexpectedly... cause the processor is working with its full performance and no enough cooling around the laptop. so while I move to other place and also I raise the laptop a little bit from the back to let the fans (bottom of the laptop) works perfectly .
try to open it again and do so.... may be it is a so simple thing that was far from your mind like I was before... good luck

Power light blinking on nv53a gateway

Your Gateway laptop comes with a series of LED lights that alert you to the state of your computer. You'll notice there are blue, purple and red lights that either blink or display solidly. Each light, blinking or solid, has a different meaning. The blue blinking light on your laptop indicates that it is in Standby mode. Your laptop goes into Standby when you close its lid without shutting down the computer. To turn this light off, you'll need to take the computer out of Standby mode, and if you want to ensure that the blinking blue light does not return, shut down the computer after each use.

Open the lid of your Gateway laptop and press the power button. Once Windows loads, enter your password if required. The blue light will no longer be blinking because the computer is no longer in Standby mode. Shut the laptop off when you finish using it rather than simply closing the lid to stop the blue light from blinking again. Click "Start" from your Windows desktop and click "Shut down." Change your computer's power settings to keep if from going into Standby mode when you close the lid if you'd rather not shut down your computer every time you use it. Click "Start" and click "Control Panel." Click "System and Security" and then click "Power Options." Click "Choose what closing the lid does" from the list of options on the left side of the window. Select "Hibernate" from the drop-down lists under "On Battery" and "Plugged In." Click "Save Changes." Your laptop will now bypass Standby mode when you close the lid and it will enter Hibernate mode instead. Hope it helps.

No power battery flashes 4 orange

If it is orange or is blinking orange, the battery charge is low or expended. Remove the battery and re-install it. Plug in the AC adapter and connect it to an outlet. Turn on the computer.

When the battery status light blinks green and orange, the battery temperature is too hot for charging. Shut down the laptop, detach the AC adapter, and allow the laptop and battery to return to room temperature before attempting to charge the battery.

If the battery status light blinks orange rapidly, the battery itself may be defective.

My acer aspire 3680 shuts down unexpectedly only when the battery is plugged in. When I remove the battery it works fine. Is the problem with the battery or something else in my computer?

It is the battery. It is damaged, and because of that it changes the voltage of the AC. the best solution is to replace it with a new one, but until then, work without it, or you might have fried lap top

Unexpected shutdown with fresh battery ...only cycled 23 times so far. Mac shuts down after about 3 minutes....then shuts down on boot sequence after that. No warning...just shuts down instantly. Macbook...

"Shuts down instantly without warning" is the hallmark of a faulty battery. "All five lights on" is meaningless, as batteries with this fault go from 100% to 0% in a finger-snap. Assuming your battery is under warranty, it should be replaced at no charge.

Laptop Power Issues

Hi,

Most laptop batteries would die out after a year or two. None the less, the laptop should work with or without the batteries.

In some instances, the batteries have deteriorated to the point that it will gobble up the power from the charger denying sufficient juice for the laptop's use. The temporary workaround is to use the laptop without the batteries. if removing the battery and the unit powers up/works, then you have verified that indeed it is the battery causing you problems.

If even without the battery the unit will not operated, you can suspect the charger not 100% compatible with your laptop. If it is an original charger, then you can conclude that something is wrong inside the Toshiba.

I understand that the original charger intended for a Toshiba P25-S670 is 19VoltsDC. 6.3Amperes (120Watts).

Hope this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turned out or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.
