I keep getting a scanner failure error message. I have uninstalled & reinstalled the drivers.

Hardware failure - the scanner reading head (the one that detects the image) has failed.
This is terminal since it will be cheaper just to buy a new one than to replace the head.

Hi,

I would guess you are running windows Vista. This is a VBscript runtime error. To fix this,

goto Start > All Programs > Accessories > then right click on "command prompt" , choose run as administrator

in command prompt type in:

regsvr32 vbscript.dll

hit enter

Try installing now..

Hope this fixes your problem!

No HP Devices have been detected. Solutions Center will now close.

It may happen if you are using HP Scanjet 5590 scnaner on windows XP. I suggest you to completely uninstlal the scanner software and then install the version 9.0 from the below link. It is the updated version for Vista but work on XP system..

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=15179&prodSeriesId=377689&prodNameId=377691&swEnvOID=2093&swLang=8&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=sj-49436-1

Also, please connect the scanner only when it prompts to do so.
Hope it will work and 5590 scanner works with XP.
