Panasonic SC-PT660 digital in doesn't work

The digital in port on the back of the receiver does not work. There is no light coming out of the port. The cord and digital out on the TV work (hooked up to other receiver, no problems). The HDMI and iPod play, so the speakers are fine. There is not a coaxial connection, so I don't have any other way to hook up the surround to the TV.

SOURCE: problems connecting phillips tv to panasonic sc-pt660 home theate

I just bought a sc-pt660, I have a philips tv too, the TV only available output is digital coax but the home theater only has digital optical input, you may buy a digital coax to optical converter like this one:
http://www.amazon.com/Cables-Go-Coaxial-Optical-Converter/dp/B0002J2MV4/ref=pd_cp_e_3?pf_rd_p=413863501&pf_rd_s=center-41&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B000I98ZQY&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1BS8MKCZ1CWQR071S8RN

Alternativelly you can also use the headphone output that is near the side input in the TV and buy an RCA adapter like this one from radioshack: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103225

SOURCE: blu ray connect to my sc-pt660

Why not leave the audio into the TV via HDMI from the Bluray and then optical audio out from TV to the home theater audio system? Same as the hook up for the cable box. The SC-
PT660 only has one optical audio connector so your solution may not be feasible assuming he's also got a cable box connected to the TV.

Is it possible to hook the Panasonic SC-HT743 up to a HDTV using a digital optical audio cable?

Since it doesn't HAVE a digital input of any flavor, no.

It has a single analog input on the back and a (similar) analog music port on the front.

How and where can i get a new panasonic dvd for my home theather system. model number sc-pt660. the disk changer does not open and close.

Considering that this unit comes as a bundle it wouldnt be profitable for stores to carry the parts seperatly. The best bet here would be if it still is within the 30 return policy then to take it back to the store you purchased it from to swap out for another. Since Im sure this isnt the case or you would have already done this you can try to save a dime by searching ebay for part systems and repairing or replacing the problem part in your tray (specifically being the tray motor). Theres plenty of tutorials for similar products found on DIY.com. Heres a link...

Blu ray connect to my sc-pt660

as far as hooking up your blu ray player to the sc-pt660, the only real way to utilize the surround sound (with true surround sound) is through the optical audio out. You need to connect your blu ray player through hdmi to your tv and then connect your blu ray player to your surround sound using the optical audio out/in. I, personally have the sc-pt660 hooked up through component cables so I don't waste an HDMI input on my TV. Except for cd's, there is no reason for you to use the actual dvd player part of the surround sound considering you have a blu ray player. In conclusion, hooking your blu ray player and the sc-pt660 up to get better video simply isnt possible (your blu ray player alone gives the best possible resolution, 1080p). As far as audio goes, run an optical audio cable from your blu ray player to your sc-pt660 to get true surround sound.

I just bought the sc-pt660.Is there any way for me to hook my regular tv(not a flat screen or hdtv)or my time warner cable box to this to get sound from movies on tv.I dont see any audio in ports.thanks

You can use the PANASONIC AUX IN ports for your TV or CABLE BOX audio, unless you run the DIGITAL CABLE into the PANASONIC, this may be available on the CABLE BOX or your TV, my suggestion is if you use the Cable box to view TV then use the CABLE BOX AUDIO OUTPUTS, you would be better with the CABLE BOX digital output INTO YOUR panasonic, but if it is already being used take the AUDIO out analog connection from your cable box into your Panasonic AUX INPUTS, then set the Panasonic to AUX IN mode.

Panasonic SC PT660 Theater w Samsung Plasma -No sound w/Aux Input

My best advice is to do a factory reset on the system and then set it up again like you did when you first installed it. Unless your daughter physically damaged cables, the system should work OK. It's no use trying to work out what she disconnected as that will take even longer than a factory reset.

Use the same gauge that is supplied for the rear. Probably 24 gauge.Do it with the power off. If the wires touch with the power on the rear output IC will blow. Good Luck
