Turn Power On and Off

I´m having the same problem as many - my lens is making a strange noise and the LCD reads "turn the power off and on again." It´s the second time this has happened to my Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-W5 and from my brief internet searches, it´s not uncommon. Both times this has happened it´s been very cold out and I can´t help but wonder if that could have something to do with it. The first time it happened it was within 6 months of purchase and I sent it in to Sony under warranty. Oddly, they said when they received it that it was working fine and they did nothing to repair it. It recently happened again and I´m baffled. I had a similary unhelpful experience with the Sony helpdesk and no luck. Has anyone found out what the problem is? I live in Spain and don´t want to have to send the camera away to the nearest Sony office. I agree that to pay for a repair that costs half as much as a new camera seems absurd. Thanks!

The lens block assy gets dust collection, or subjected to jerks, blows, forced to act by pushing manually by children etc. Any abnormal usage causes problems like this. Servicing the lens block is the best solution.

NSX-AJ310 power problems

That's nothing strange!! Mine does the very same thing. It's normal, the system's way of powering up, unless when you turn on the power, clicking noise intensifies....., if that's the case, give me a reply.

My camera lens won't go back in and is making weird noises.

Since you said it makes noise when you turn it on, the gear system controlling the lens might be faulty. have it checked.

Casio ex-z77/ lens error

you might have pushed the lens into the barrel. small lens barrel has 3 metal pins that ride inside the larger lens barrel as it twists. Pushing it sometimes cracks the plastic holding these 3 pins in. one way to fix it is to carefully disassemble the entire lens barrel. be careful...sometimes a part just snaps, or is already snapped. The easiest way would be to replace the lens assembly with a good one you can get from another camera like this. There are no spare parts for cams like this so you can try to get another cam that has a different damage other than the lens barrel.

LG TV LCD 47LF65 makes a strange noise

It should make a little noise, but if it is annoying then it is probably an issue - this is most likely the power being reduced to the inverters when the birightness is turned down. Could be a noisy coil on your power board or a capacitor may be going bad and changing value. I would look for any swollen capacitors (a bump on top, bursted or swollen sides) on the power board.
