Tanks are no longer available. Search for used units on your local craigslist.com. This model was previously made by Holmes and tanks were the same on HM3500, HM3501. Search "Holmes humidifier" then search "sunbeam humidifier" on your local craigslist.org
most bigger towns will have one or two show up. Keep an eye out. People who move to a house (or install) a whole house humidifier sell their old units. We have two of the exact model and I bought a new in box 3501 from a Craigslist posting in September 2013!
I think you would be etter served to just repair that crack - it can be done in minutes with a product called Plastiweld, available at your local auto parts store. Make sure you allow it time to cure as stated in the directions. I have used it on several different jobs and never had a failure. Good luck!!
The tank may be full. Your dehumidifier has a safety device that turns off the dehumidifier when the water tank is full. Usually the tank itself either presses against a switch or there's a device connected to the tank that triggers a switch when the tank is in place and full. If you've emptied the tank and the unit doesn't run, inspect the place where the tank rests to see if there's a switch or mechanism that's not being activated. You may be able to turn it on with a simple flick of your finger.

You can use distilled water to fill your humidifier that would save your filters.
Or you can try soaking your filter in a 50-50 water and white vinegar solution to try and clean them to use again.
It's not a problem for the tanks to empty at an uneven rate...as long as the second one continues to supply water after the first one is empty. Yes, a slight tilt off of level could cause this. One way to test for this is to turn the entire unit around. If the floor is uneven, this might cause the other tank to empty first. You could also try placing a thin spacer (cardboard?) under a couple of the feet to change the level. Whichever tank is lowest should tend to empty last.
