SOURCE: Audiovox D1812 Portable DVD player won't recognize disc

I also bought mine at Sam's Club. I also have only used mine on trips. Mine also has a date code of 2005. Audiovox wants $80 to fix it plus shipping. I guess they just make throw away products that only wodk for a short time!.

SOURCE: Audiovox D1812 disc loads & plays but VERY dim screen

Sounds like the backlight isn't working, could be the flourescent tube or the inverter that powers it. At least those are the likely suspects in other LCD monitors that have similar problems.

Won't complete the load disc process

Loading may mean it is not seeing the disc---A dirty or bad optical pickup is possible if you get this error with every disc.

Screen is backlit; however, dvd does not load/play/spin.

Hi, There is some DIY steps that may help you fixing the problem. Click the link http://www.fixya.com/support/r7833671-change_defective_motor_portable_dvd. I've suspect that you're motor is faulty since the disc is not spinning.
Hope it may help you. Have a nice day!

Audiovox D1812 Portable DVD player won't recognize disc

I have the same model, exhibiting the same problems. I bought it in 2005, and have used it only on trips. I bought mine at Sam's club and I emailed them and Audiovox and have gotten no response. It says little of Sam's Club or of AudioVox!

Portable dvd player will play music cds but not video dvds

Chances are, your DVD player uses one laser to read CDs, and a different laser to read DVDs (since Cds and DVDs are read at different wavelenghts of light). If the DVDs you're trying to watch work properly in other DVD players, it probably means that the DVD laser is dirty, damaged, or burned out. Though you can try cleaning the laser (use Google for suggestions on how to do this, or check the Audiovox website), you will most likely have to get the DVD player repaired, or buy a replacement. Many of the newer CD/DVD players sold today use a single combination laser, which reads both CDs and DVDs, which means that when the laser fails, it will not work at all. Wish I had better news for you, but I guess that the only consolation you have is that your Audivox player still works with CDs...
