The belt has definitely broken on my tumble dryer. How do I fit a new one past/through the pully wheels please its doing my head in i would of known if the belt was not broken
Found this dead easy, take top off and back off. Inside undo the star shaped screws, there are also a few screws that are a different shape when removed, these secure the back to an air inlet. Suggest you take note of where the screws come from, even write a number next to the hole with a marker pen and note which screws and in what order. There is also an earth attached to the drum, this is the only wire I removed. Take this back section off. You should then be able to remove the drum by wiggling it out and turning it sideways in the dryer casing. Then remove the fan bottom left, 4 screws and a clip in the centre, the clip was difficult to remove without spreading it so you may need to squeeze it back into shaped before putting it back on. The tensioners will probably have come out of their locators so put them back into place, this is easy to see when you look at them. This is proabably a good time to vacum any dust out. Spread the tensioners hook the belt over the drive shaft only, not the tensioners, and let them spring back, these will then spread when the belt stretches around the drum. Put the drum back on and pull the belt around it, make sure its lined up with the original belt markings otherwise it will just pull the belt off of the drive shaft. Put all the screws back in attache the earth to the drum and put the back on then the top on. I'm not a technician and haven't done this before, it took about 1 1/2hrs.
Put belt around motor pully first, then pull the two pulleys apart so they fit at the back of the belt, not the ribbed side of the belt,
