Found this dead easy, take top off and back off. Inside undo the star shaped screws, there are also a few screws that are a different shape when removed, these secure the back to an air inlet. Suggest you take note of where the screws come from, even write a number next to the hole with a marker pen and note which screws and in what order. There is also an earth attached to the drum, this is the only wire I removed. Take this back section off. You should then be able to remove the drum by wiggling it out and turning it sideways in the dryer casing. Then remove the fan bottom left, 4 screws and a clip in the centre, the clip was difficult to remove without spreading it so you may need to squeeze it back into shaped before putting it back on. The tensioners will probably have come out of their locators so put them back into place, this is easy to see when you look at them. This is proabably a good time to vacum any dust out. Spread the tensioners hook the belt over the drive shaft only, not the tensioners, and let them spring back, these will then spread when the belt stretches around the drum. Put the drum back on and pull the belt around it, make sure its lined up with the original belt markings otherwise it will just pull the belt off of the drive shaft. Put all the screws back in attache the earth to the drum and put the back on then the top on. I'm not a technician and haven't done this before, it took about 1 1/2hrs.

Put belt around motor pully first, then pull the two pulleys apart so they fit at the back of the belt, not the ribbed side of the belt,

It sounds like it is the belt. When the dryer heats up the belt expands a little and when it gets wore out, the tensioner doesn't have enough spring to keep it tight. It might work a little when it's cold before the belt expands.
This belt should work for your dryer but verify the length.

The bottom of this link shows some typical ways a belt runs past a tension wheel and links for your dryer. If you replace yours I would recommend taking a couple pictures before removing the old one so you can refer to them when installing the new one.

Whirlpool tumble dryer making a loud noise

the dryers drum that spins around is driven by a belt . A belt tensioner is attached to provide a secure fit when turning. The tensioner has a idler pully which has a bearing in it. When worn the bearing squeaks or wears out causing this noise you have. Sears sells the belt and idler pulley as a set to retify this situation you have. Instructions come with these kits

My dryer won't tumble

Probably a broken belt. To replace it you must remove the drum. Start by removing the lint filter. and the 2 phillip screws in the lint filter cousing. Then use a flat blade putty knife to pop the top. Raise up the front and sit it out the way. Grab the drum and remove it. Oil the rollers with non flammable oil. I use zoom-oil. Vacuum out the dryer. The new belt will probably be a part# 341241. Ribbed side goes down on the drum. It is best to get a friend to hold the drum up so you can install the idler. The idler goes into the floor with the pulley to the left. Raise up the idler and insert the belt under the idler wheel and onto the motor pully. I have photos HERE

Dryer won't tumble

are you sure you installed the belt properly ? a lot of dryers have an idler pully that the belt has to go through to create the correct amount of tension. that's about all there is to check

Dryer

beckerkim, you have one of two things going here, either your blower wheel has something jammed in it or it's broken or the motor itself is shot. Check the blower wheel first make sure it's ok. You also may want to check the drum rollers to make sure they are not seized up. Catriver...post back.
