Hi, this error is caused by a clogged drain filter located under the drum assembly.
If your machine is stuck on the drain sequence or you read error code E20, the filter basket is probably clogged:
You will need a pair of slip-joint pliers and a Phillips head screwdriver.
Before beginning any work, make sure to unplug the machine from the electrical outlet.
**Note: It may be easier to perform this task with the washer lying on its side; therefore it may be necessary to disconnect the water lines from the machine.
1: Take off the front kick plate (two screws at the bottom of the machine).
3: There is a black accordion hose with two clamps.
2: Have a towel ready to catch the water that leaks.
4: Remove the clamps at each end to access the filter basket.
5: Stick your hand inside the hose and remove the plastic filter basket (it will probably be clogged with hair, lint, fabric).
6: Thoroughly clean the filter basket and remove all debris from the inside of the black accordion hose.
7: Replace the filter basket.
8: Reattach the black accordion hose at both ends.
9: Secure the clamps at each end of the hose.
10: Wipe up any water that may have spilled inside the machine.
11: Reattach the front kick plate with the two screws removed earlier.
12: Reconnect all hoses before plugging in the machine to the electrical outlet.
Thank you.
RE-OCCURRING: I follow above, but problem keeps repeating... After unclogging, and re-installing it, the washer ran good
for a few loads. Then she said that
after a few loads it started messing up.
So, the next day, I went over, removed the rear panel, and turned it on "spin
only" mode. For a while, it would intermittently
alternate between slowly spinning clockwise & counterclockwise, then it
finally started spinning full speed, and completed the cycle. Maybe it was supposed to behave that way, but
I squeezed the hose, and the plastic filter (if that's what it is) had fallen
down into the hose again. So, one reason I came here is because trying to do this
work through the rear panel is extremely difficult, and I figure I ought to be
able to remove the front. It appears you've
shown me how to access from the front, which would be awesome. I'm going to go give it a try. Thank you. The other reason, more importantly, this problem keeps
repeating itself. Do you know what's
causing the filter to keep falling down into the hose? Thanks!
We haven't seen any error codes, but the washer is
behaving similarly. It's my ex-wife's washer, and she said a friend previously
took something apart, and put it back together, and that it wasn't very
complicated. So I took off the back panel, and when I squeezed the rubber boot,
I could feel something bulging in it. So I took off the black rubber boot, or
hose, that you mentioned, and a plastic filter had gotten so clogged with
debris, (key, several coins, buttons, lint, fabric, etc). It appeared that
being clogged so badly caused the pressure to force it down into the black
boot/hose thingy.

holla, Im not showing a E20 code on the tech sheet. There is a E21. Water not draining fast enough. Try holding the start/pause and cancel key together for 3 seconds. The door lock, wash, rinse and final spin leds should light. Any error codes should be displayed when holding those keys. If you see a different error code, post it. If not, I would suspect a clogged pump...Catriver.

clogged filter will cause this error code. I have the same washer and the filter located inside the rubber boot attached to the pump was full of junk. there was enough room for water to get thru but not enough for full volume. clean it out and it should work. note : its a pain to get the boot back on so be ready and take it slow. this worked for me.
SOURCE: I have a Frigidaire Gallery front load washer with E10 error code
When ours does that it is because of the hard water build up. We have to un-hook the hot water clean out the minerals and it stops doing it.

The hot and cold water hoses were connected wrong to the washer.
Hello John, thanks for your inquiry!
From my understanding your Frigidaire front load washer is displaying an error code of "E20" and you would like to know how to fix it. An "E20" code stands for water is not pumping out fast enough this could be a problem with your drain hose, pump, or control panel. I would suggest checking the drain line to make sure it is not restricted. If the line looks clear it could be a problem with your drain pump or control panel. I would recommend seeking assistance from a professional technician for proper repairs. I hope this information is helpful. -Matt
Hello Diane Snow, thank you for your inquiry!
I understand that your Frigidaire washer is displaying "E20" error code. The "E20" error code means water is not pumping out fast enough. First, you want to check the hoses for restrictions.
If the hoses are not restricted it could be an issue with the drain pump or control board. I would suggest seeking assistance from a professional technician for proper repair. I hope this is helpful. -Matt
Hello friend, thank you for your post!
I see your question is labeled under Frigidaire washer, ATF6000ES, and your washer is receiving an error code of "E20". "E20" stands for the water is not pumping out fast enough which means it could be an issue with your control panel or drain pump. I would recommend having a professional come out and properly repair your appliance. I hope this is helpful. -Matt
Hello - The error code "E20" typically means the water is not draining properly or not pumping out fast enough. Does the washer making a humming noise? If so, either the drain hose may be kinked or the drain in the house is clogged. Once you have confirmed and cleaned the hose and issue continues contact a professional to move forward accurately. The unit may possibly have a faulty pump or control board.
