Uniden DECT 6.0 - 2 Handset

New phones purchased, but will not work. I have DSL and made sure i used a filter on the phone. I use wireless devices also. The word Searching is displayed on the handsets and base. It also interrupts my DSL service. What can I do to correct the problem because the description on the box state that it is compatible.

You may have to manually "register" your handsets to the base. This is supposed to do it automatically but there are instructions for "registering" your handsets if the automatic feature fails or you add a new base, etc. Consult your owner manual for instructions.

"Check Tel Line": Do I need a new phone?

theres some thing wrong with the base unit, try unplugging it and plugging the whole setup at a friends or something, also if youhave a DSL line you my have to install a filter to seperate the data line and voice line. Its ole school but this might work.

I just received your Dect 6.0 from E.Bay....second-hand....I need to download the manual for it in order to use it properly.....Thanks...MC...!!!!

Which model of the Uniden DECT 6.0 phone do you have? They make several. All of the Uniden manuals are available from Uniden support and on the individual product page. If you start at http://www.uniden.com, you can search for your model.

DECT phone manuals are listed here: http://www.uniden.com/bin/venda?ex=co_disp-view&bsref=uniden&scat=dectphones_mnl . Then scroll through the list to your specific phone and desired language for the manual. The model number is on the base of Uniden multi-handset cordless phones. The number after the dash indicates the number of handsets that come with the base when purchased new but the manuals are identical.

To access all Uniden manuals, start at http://www.uniden.com/scat/cordlessphones_mnl and select the type of device.

If you add the model number in a comment and I'll be glad to provide a direct link to the manual that you need. For example the Uniden DECT1060 manual is here: http://www.uniden.com/content/ebiz/uniden/resources/ownersmanuals/DECT1060om.pdf .

I hope this helps.

I have Uniden DECT1480-3. I purchased two expandable handsets, but I cannot figure out how to get the new handsets to register with the base unit.

Up to 6 handsets can be registered with the DECT 1480 phones. I have the 5 phone unit and needed to add the 6th phone. All I got was "Searching" in the display and the battery wouldn't even charge!

So here's what you have to do to get additional phones (up to 6 units) to work with the base. If you can get past step 1, it's a snap...

Step 1: Place a charged battery in the handset. This could be a problem if all your handsets are not registered, since unregistered phones don't charge (who thought of that design?). What I did was SWAP the battery from an already registered and charged phone with the new unregistered phone.

Step 2: Here's where the magic happens. Press the 'END' and '#' keys simultaneously... hold them down until a System Reset menu appears. Select "Deregister HS" and press Menu.

Step 3: Now, do the same thing again (hold down END and #), but this time select Base Unavailable and press Menu. You will see Base Unavailable Yes/No... Select Yes. Then place the handset in the base, wait a few seconds, and Voila!. it's registered. You can even change handset numbers using this menu if you play around with it.

Thank you, helpful employee at Costco for supplying the magic code. And hey there, UNIDEN... including this in the operation manual would have saved many customers much grief with de-registered phones!

Enjoy!

GE Dect 6.0 Cordless - Loud Static

question is are you running a pc and router/ modem on the same land line
if so you will need the line filters to the phone base
the computer data is transferred by the same land line and there is every possibility that the different frequencies is what is causing the static
reference from a uniden trouble shooter ( will be common as the phones use the same medium)
lots of noise or static on the line === possible solutions --check for interference from appliances ( microwave , tv etc ) or wireless devices ( baby monitors wifi equipment etc)
move the handset base away from the source
if you have any device that uses the phone line , add a DSL or telephone line filter to the system

it is possible from the times you state that the interference could be coming form a neighbour or further down the line so the filter may be the option
available from phone shops or places like JAYCAR

Need for DSL filters with DECT 6.0?

Yes - you need the DSL filter in jack you plan to use (you need them in any jack with a phone/fax connection. It matters not that the handset is cordless - the connection to the wall needs the filter or your DSL will a) not work or b) work poorly
