Turntable has new needle but will not play

This turntable has not ben used in 20 years. It seems to work and does everything but make a sound. I checked the wires and input it is connected to. The new needle is made for it. Is it tricky to put a new needle on, it seemed simple enough. Thanks for any help.

The needle moves inbetween 2 points in the needle body that deliver the signal to the output of the turn table. If the unit that houses the needle is not functioning, it will not transmit. If the connections to the needle body are not connected to the right pins on the needle body or the connector is loose, it may not work. Make sure it's plugged into a phono input on the receiver/amp as there is a small preamplifier also.

If wires and needle are good is the rca jacks in a input phono aux are the ones to use and the amp is set to aux or phono is the ground wire in ifit isnt working then its more likely the cartrage is shorted out thats the metal box that the needle is connected to

SOURCE: turntable starts playing record middle 1st song

The tonearm lift is no longer level as it should be and the arm is sliding along it under gravity as the arm lowers to the record. Has it received a knock?

Have a close look to see whether it has been tilted slightly. That would be enough to give the problem.

SOURCE: BSR turntable arm slides across record

There can be a number of reasons for this.
Have you checked that the stylus tip has not broken off? this is a common cause and will require a new stylus.

SOURCE: Turntable Crackling

sounds to me like your fader has popped! lube contact spray will not solve the problem, it will only clear it up for a few passes if any! PCV faders have covers inside which stop any lube getting right on the contacts! but in my experience as a scratch dj for 11 years is that contact spray only make the problem worse over time! best shot from here is to replace the fader, or get a mixer with optical/contactless fader i suggest a mixer with the 'eternal' fader i.e. ecler 360/80hak. hope this helps

SOURCE: everything works on my record player but my turntable doesnt spin

This happened to me tonight. I had the same problem, to activate the player on you need to move it to the right until you hear a click. If you don't do it it won't start. Even if all the power is on. This should fix everything!

SOURCE: Platter/motor won't turn

I don't know the answer, but you have written one of the finest, most comprehensive problem descriptions I have come across. In mechanical scenarios, that is priceless. I'm sure a turntable guru will see it and go, "aw. I know what that is". Good Luck.

The arm with the needle slides across the LP record - doesn't pick up sound

This is often a problem when you are using a 78 needle on a 45 or 33 record. Some needles can be flipped, so check to see if yours is able to flip between the 78 and 33 setting. If not, you may simply need a new one.

Turntable only playing in one speaker

In my business I work on a lot of turntables. Specifically, Memorex, Anders Nicholson, Innovative Technology and Emerson. 99% of the time when I only have sound coming out of one channel it is due to a broken cartridge. If you look at the tone arm head from underneath you will see a rubber fork that the needle arm sits in. There are usually 2 ceramic cartridges attached to the rubber fork. Those transmit the sounds from the needle. If one of those brakes then that channel will not transmit any sound.

No sound from CDJ-800 MK2

Are you getting error messages? Running in thru LINE? Is not on mute? The possiblity of both not playing would lead to process of elimination.

Keep me posted.
