That's an analog TV and would need a converter box for the new digital broadcasting.

How do I get free local TV over-the-air stations?

The Quasar VV-2002 only has an NTSC (analog tuner). Very few stations with NTSC transmitters are still broadcasting. Only low-power stations were allowed to continue broadcasting an analog signal. Unless you are very close to one of the transmitters, your TV will not tune in the station.

You'll need to connect the TV to a digital-to-analog over the air converter box. (The low-end ones that were free or cheap with the government coupon are harder to find; a few models are still available.) These convert the ATSC (digital) signal to NTSC. Then use an appropriate antenna and follow the instructions to tune in the available OTA signals. Send these to the TV either on the RF or composite Line-in. Set the TV to the appropriate input and use the converter box to change channels.

I hope this helps.

Cindy Wells
(20" TVs weren't required to have an ATSC tuner until 2007. Since there are reviews for the VV-2002 from 2004, it obviously is an older set.)

How can I replace the outlet for the cables on the back of my quasar SP 3234E TV?

A "freezing" picture sounds like something other than your television. Do you have a cable box or satellite box attached? They fail sometimes and need to be replaced. (You have an analog TV and "freezing" is a digital problem.)

Analog Quasar tv keeps turning off.

The bang test is a good indication that there are poor solder connections inside the set. If you can solder and are comfortable working inside the set where potentially dangerous high voltages exist even when unplugged, you can fix this yourself. Look at the main board and resolder any joints that appear grainy or have rings. That should resolve the problem. If not, see if there are any changes in the symptoms and update this.

HD tv changes

The changes that you mention will only effect you if you use either rabbit ears or a rooftop antenna. The over-air broadcast signals are being changed from analog to digital. If you have cable or satelite service, there will be no change.

Digital

From what I see under amazon.com, it does not have a digital tuner.

But the February 2009 turn off is a deadline for over the air only.
When cable companies turn off their analog signals is a different matter. Some may soon, some may wait until 2012.

The gov't coupon program is only good for converters that handle the over the air digital ATSC signals, not cable's unencrypted digital QAM signals.
