Adjust feed dog height on Brother 1500s

I sent my sewing machine to a service center to reset the timing. When I got it back they had also adjusted the feed dog height. I sent it back again and told them to put the feed dogs back where they were. The 1st time they were too high. The 2nd time they are now too low. Each time it takes more than a week to wait for the repair to be made. I'm so frustrated that they changed the feed dog height in the first place when all I wanted was the timing to be reset. How can I adjust the height myself so that I don't have to send the machine back again a 3rd time.

Raise the presser foot lever, and then slide the drop feed lever. Set the lever in the position for normal sewing. The feed dogs can not be raised only by sliding the drop feed lever to . Turn the handwheel toward you (counterclockwise), or press the "Needle Position" button once or twice.

How do you adjust the feed dog height on a Kenmore 1690 (158.16900) sewing machine?

To adjust the feed dog height on a Kenmore 1690 (158.16900) sewing machine, you can follow these steps:
  1. Turn off the sewing machine and unplug it from the power source for safety.
  2. Remove the needle and presser foot from the machine.
  3. Locate the feed dog adjustment screw, which is usually located on the backside of the sewing machine, near the feed dogs.
  4. Use a screwdriver to loosen the feed dog adjustment screw. It might be a slotted screw or a thumbscrew, depending on the model.
  5. Gradually adjust the height of the feed dogs by turning the adjustment screw clockwise or counterclockwise. Clockwise rotation raises the feed dogs, while counterclockwise rotation lowers them. Make small adjustments and test with a scrap fabric after each turn to achieve the desired height.
  6. Once you have set the feed dog height, tighten the adjustment screw securely.
  7. Reinstall the needle and presser foot, and plug in the sewing machine.
  8. Test the machine with a piece of fabric to ensure the feed dogs are working properly and at the desired height.
It is important to consult the sewing machine manual for specific instructions related to your model, as the location of the adjustment screw may vary.

Fabric does not feed through machine

When you sew the machine must be set at the correct settings. If your machine won't straight stitch, turn it off at the power point and then turn it back on. Most machines reset to the default straight stitch setting. Secondly when you sew the presser foot must be down. This engages the "feed dogs" or the triangular looking "teeth" below the presser foot. As you sew, the feed dogs grab the two layers of fabric pulling them through, the thread above (spool) and the thread below (bobbin) meet to form the stitch. Finally, maybe fiddling around with dials and settings you may have dropped, or disengaged the feed dogs. Check with your manual on how to re-engage the feed dogs. Hope this helps and happy sewing. Remember, when all else fails..... read the manual.

On Model #535 FA The feed dogs do not come up high enough to advance the fabric forward. Is there an adjustment to raise the feed dogs ? ( Necchi sewing machine )

If you change the number of your stitch length it will automatically adjust the feed dogs. If it is still a problem then you will need it adjusted. Insure that your pressure foot is placing enough pressure that causes the feed dogs to pull the material forward. To adjust the feed dogs there are different ways to be adjusted. I wouldn't suggest you try to adjust the height of the feed dogs.

Singer sewing machine

Only a sewing tech can tell you:

If the feed dog height is too low, you have to get it serviced.

It the feed dogs are worn out, you can buy them and put them on yourself, but the repair shop would probably attach a new set while you wait with no labor charge.

Presser foot is to tight on fabric causing it not to move and there is no adjustment dial

It may also be that the feed dogs aren't adjusted properly. It any case these adjustment are all internal and very difficult to do without access the the service/parts manuals. My advise is to take it to a Brother Dealer or service center.

Brother XL 5130. I just got this machine and the feed dogs seem to be in the 'down' position, although I can't find a lever anywhere to move them up. In some of the forum, it suggests that

http://www.brother-usa.com/ModelDocuments/Consumer/Users%20Manual/UM_XL_5130_5232_5340_EN_208.PDF

Look up "darning" and it shows a feed dog cover so that means this machine does not have dropping feed dogs.

Now that that is out of the way... most machines have the ability to adjust the height of the feed dogs. But without seeing your machine I can't advise you. It might be better to go have the machine adjusted and serviced.
