Does anyone have any idea why my answering machine won't record?? It picks up when we don't answer, and you can hear the message, but I've tried leaving "test" messages and the machine shows 0 messages. I even missed a couple of very important messages before! HELP!
I had the same problem with my Siemens Gigaset answering machine and I fixed by changing the sound quality of my Vonage line to the highest available (=90Kbps).You should be able to change this in the Features -> Bandwidth Saver webpage on Vonage's website.
I have a GE digital answering machine and had a problem similar to Laula's after installing DSL. I have apparently solved the problem by using two filters in series with the answering machine. The DSL signal, apparently interferes with the answering machine's control signals. The solution is precarious, though. When I tried using a wall-mount filter in series with an in-line filter, it didn't work. The problems are probably affected by signal strengths and line lengths.

The reason the answering machine doesn't work is because it is not DSL compatible! If you have DSL internet for your computer, the phone lines are not compatible with the answering machine!
I have the same problem, but the manual has not helped at all. I even bought a new one (different GE model) and it did the exact same thing as soon as I set it up. So, I figured it must be a setting or something if the new one does the same thing, but I cannot figure it out.

Same problem. Machine replaced 3 times!!! Still doesn't work in my home. But it DOES work in my daughter's home! What gives????
I can't always answer the phone, and when calls come in, the machine cuts off in the middle of the callers message, and when they call back, they get cut off again!! I've been instructed to unplug the phone line, and then the power line. After 10 minutes, plug in power, then phone line. It works for a few weeks, then we're back to the "cut off caller" situation again! It's time to replace the machine, I can't afford to tick off anymore callers. This machine STINKS!
have tried more than one ge machine and all have same problem. Picks up and gives my welcome message, but does not record message and machine says 0 messages.
