Hi Michael,

I am sorry to hear you are having difficulty with your DC33. The problem you are describing with the hose sounds like a blockage. Please visit http://www.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=1419&product=DC33-MULTIFLOOR for step by step instructions to locate and remove any blockages. You may also want to wash your filters to ensure proper performance.

The squealing sound you describe is unusual. With the machine turned off and unplugged, we recommend inspecting the brush bar for any debris that could be wrapped around the brush and making contact with the belt. However, because you have recently changed the belt, we would also appreciate the opportunity to trouble shoot with you over the phone. Please call us at 1-866-693-9766 US or 0800 298 0298 UK so we can provide further assistance.

Best wishes,

Jessica

SOURCE: No suction in upright position

Check the adapters at the bottom. They're supposed to move cleanly when you lower the handle. It's pretty obvious if there's an air gap when you lower the handle, and you should hear the suction in the air gap.

And...call Dyson...their support is great!

SOURCE: Dyson Dc07

I had the same issue and solved it easily. My experience is the same as the March 6th response/ When you push your foot onto the base and then recline the handle, use your toe to gently push the very front of the base down closer to the carpet. This creates a much stronger seal and suction and picks up every bit of dirt easily. If i do not do this extra step the suction is much much less. I tried an experiment with sand that I poured onto my carpet. Initially, I went over the sand 4 times and the dyson 07 would only pick up 50 percent of the sand. I then poured more sand onto the carpet, and this time pushed the front lip down so it was contacting the carpet. This time only two passes were needed to completely **** up all the sand. Not sure why this is not in the manual but it really works. Good Luck!

SOURCE: dyson 18 losing suction

Check the HEPA filter if it has one. This bit of foam gets clogged over time and significantly reduces the suction especially if you've been vacuuming a lot of very dusty areas i.e. dust from building work etc. Just wash the filter with lots of water and leave to dry before reinserting.

SOURCE: dyson dc07 yellow/blue no suction at base

Sounds like you've **** up something which is obstructing the suction from the brush bar. There's a little section of curved grey pipe near the base which carries the dirt from the head up the vertical pipe at the back. This section can be removed, check there is nothing jammed in there, paper etc.

When the dyson is in the upright position it goes off and I cannot use the wand . . . I have cleaned the filter and nothing is stuck in the hose but the wand has no suction power. HELP! I love my DYSON! ...

Here is something to try. Follow the hose down to where it snaps into the main base. My hose has come loose a couple times. There should be to clips that you can pinch to remove the hose. Make sure it is fully snapped in.

When you remove the hose, is there suction coming through that rectangular hole?

My dyson 17 wand does not work. When it is on and you stand it upright it turns off

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

If the suction is good from the base but not from the wand, this would indicate that there is a blockage in the wand handle or hose. To test this, stand the machine upright and release the wand handle. Switch the machine on and test the suction from the top of the wand with your hand. If its poor, remove the wand handle from the hose and try the suction at the top of the hose. If its good here, then there is a blockage in the wand handle.

If the sction from the top of the hose is poor, you can remove the hose to check this for any splits or blockages. If it needs to be replaced, you can buy a replacement online at www.dyson.com.

No suction on wand of Dyson DC14 Animal

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

It sounds as though the wand handle is blocked. To check this, remove the wand/hose from the machine as if you were going to use it to vacuum the stairs. Switch the machine on and test the suction at the top of the wand handle with your hand. If the suction from the wand is poor, remove the wand from the hose and test the suction again from the top of the hose. If the suction here is good, then you know the wand handle is blocked. If the suction is poor at the hose, you can remove the hose from the machine and clear any blockages here.

For the full blockage procedure please visit the support section on our website at www.dyson.com.

Kind regards

My dyson 17 animal started shutting itself off today.I cleaned all out, but it has almost no suction when upright, none with tho hose

This video is for replacing the clutch and belts, but you can also use this video to dis-assemble and reassemble to take out hose underneath to inspect for damage. If there's a hole in the hose, you may be losing suction.

The roller for my dyson does not turn and it does not pick up anything. Howevever, the hose suction is fine and I have checked all the places for dust blockages.

That means that the belt is stretched, worn or broken. You need to replace the belt. You can get replacement belts and view the manual with instructions here:

Suction on the hose is

HI THERE.

THE PROBLEM COULD EITHER BE THE BELT HAS SNAPPED AND IN WHICH CASE IT WOULD BE EASIER TO CHANGE THE CLUTCH AS THERE ARE 2 BELTS ON THE CLUTCH. OR THE CLEAR RUBBER HOSE BEHIND THE FOORPLATE COULD BE SPLIT OR THERE COULD BE A BLOCKAGE AT THE TOP OF THE CYCLONE CYLINDER.
