Paper jam
I have a hp p1102w laser jet, it's about a year old. Hp want 130 replace it, I only paid 100 for it. I have a blinking red light. It tell me paper jam, I can find no Paper that would make the jam. After two day we looked at it again, when we turned it back on it said out of ink. I knew that was no true, because I had just put new ink in it. Now it's back to paper jam. What do I do? Does anyone have any ideas?

This video won't help if it's really broken, but shows you what to do for a recurring jam on the 6310.

Thhis error is usually due to a dirty photcell (sensor) in the tray 2 paper feed assembly or a broken sensor flag in the same assembly. Start be removing all cartridges and the transfer belt. Look in the bottom of the printer below the lowest cartridge slot for a removeable cover. That's the area your problem is probably in. I have incuded a link to a free PDF of complete service manual below. Good luck.

I had the same problem and just talked with HP technician Neeta and she showed me how to fix it. It's a bit convoluted. In essence you have to clear the print spooler. Here is what she told me.
First you have to be clear that there really ISN'T a paper jam by printing a test message this back door way.
Neeta : The USB cable should be disconnected. Neeta: To print a self-test page, press and hold the Power button. Raise and lower the printer cover four times. Release the Power button, and the self-test page prints
If the sel-test page prints, this means you truly do not have a paper jam. Next, clear the print spooler
Neeta : The USB cable should be disconnected.Neeta : Now click on start->RUN.Neeta : Then type "services.msc".Neeta : Then it will open the services window.Neeta : Now please look for the option "print spooler. Neeta : Okay, now , please right click on the option "print spooler" and click on stop then click on start, 3 times.

Based on encouragement from olsnake above, I fixed it easily. It definitely WAS the encoder wheel (a thin clear plastic disk printed
with timing marks) on the left side of the paper-feed roller, as you look at it from the front. This wheel provides motion feedback to the paper feed control software. If the disk is detached/loose, the device thinks the paper feed roller is stuck or impeded, and thus gives the annoying error.
What I did:
1) Remove the scanner assembly (it comes off with a few screws, and is a totally separate unit; The printer works with it completely disconnected (after it complains that the scanner is malfunctioning). Beware that you don't break off the little control panel. Or you can be safe and remove the one screw holding it on, by prying off the 'HP OfficeJet...One" plastic cover.
2) Once you have removed the scanner assembly:
at the left side you will see three white plastic gears meshed together; the farthest one is covered in a circular black
plastic cover. With some care you CAN remove this cover without any additional screwdriver work.
3) in my case (and most others I bet) the thin disk was detached from the gear to which it should be attached. I just shoved it back on, so it was tightly mated to its white gear. You should also ensure that the clear disk goes through the optical sensor at the bottom (mine was).
4) I did not bother to replace that cover, if you can do it, good for you.
5) Test, and reassemble.
This is about the WORST product engineering imaginable. But I have a working printer again!

An error code showing that there is paper jam alert, but no paper is in anywhere in the machine except in the tray.....I have checked all areas, taken the back carriage of the unit, opened the top and opened the machine. removed the paper tray, everything, but there is no paper stuck in the unit
