This is "middle of the line" Kitchenaid as far as bowl size and motor strength goes. However, it is a great mixer that will probably fit your needs.

Kitchenaid stand mixer 5SSWH 325 watts. How do I adjust the bowl height? Beater is too far from bottom of bowl. Thanks! Cas

There is a screw at the bottom of the motor head (flat head) you usually can't see it because of the top rim of the mixing bowl. hard to see and hard to reach, it may also be hard to turn due to "gunk" from mixing stuff (egg butter flour sugar) turn the screw counter clockwise to lower the motor head clockwise to raise it, you may also have the wrong size beater, it is not an uncommon problem, if you are the original owner and you have the original beater it should fix your problem with the adjusting screw, however I am not clear as to your model a 5SSWH would actually be a K5SSWH, which stands for kitchenaid 5 quart solid state white mixer, if this is your model number and you have the correct beater size then the adjusting screw will work to lower the head down, adjust it down using the stir or slowest speed just untill you can hear the beater "Ding" against the bottom of the bowl, then back it off a quarter turn to adjust properly. Hope this helps, let us know

Kitchenaid mixer on high all the time

I think that the mechanical speed control is stuck. Unless you are not afraid to take the mixer apart, you will need to take it toa shop or return it to the store for another one.

I'd like to get some receipes for the mixer

DEBBIE - Your KA Owners Manual should have numerous recipes included. If you don't have the original manual that came with your mixer you can down load a PDF version from the KA website. Paste the following URL into your browsers: address bar: http://www.kitchenaid.com/flash.cmd?/#/page/home
Click on Customer Care>Locate Manuals & Guides> Enter the 6 character model number (in your case K5SSWH), and then select Owners Manual (1)file. You'll need Adobe Reader to open and read the file if you don't already have it on your PC. Save it to your PC. Pages 16-61 have a whole range of receipes.
I hope this helps, Good Luck! Howard, Burke VA

KitchenAid 300 Watts KSM90 Ultra Power sparking

Sparking is a safety concern and Kitchenaid will see it as such. I would suggest calling Kitchenaid Customer Service. They are likely to exchange the product, regardless of warranty or age, because of the potential safety concern.

Their toll-free telephone number is 1-800-541-6390.

Bread dough hook slips when mixing

This is not a solution but I think you have a serious problem you might have sheared some gear teeth whent the mixer jammed and it only manifests itself under a heavy load, I would take it to a repair guy, those mixers are expensive and it would be worth it.

KitchenAid 250 Watts; Classic: Leaking Oil

Found this,may be helpful.
Why do I see oil leaking from the beater shaft of my stand mixer?
Some KitchenAid® stand mixers that are not used very often or have been tipped may experience slight oil leakage from the shaft or hub attachment. To avoid the oil leakage, KitchenAid suggests that you run the mixer weekly for short periods of time. Generally, the mixer may lose approximately X cup of oil before repair is necessary. The oil used is FDA approved and is not harmful to consume, should any get into the food that you are preparing.
