I had the same thing happen on a brand new Kenmore Elite ceramic top stove; I call the service tech as it was still on warranty, and I was told "All is working just as it should!" Appearantly, due to goverment energy efficiency regulations, the middle ring on these "power elements" designed for 3 sizes runs at a lower wattage so they can keep their "power smart" ratings. Nice of them to tell us this in the manual. I was also told to buy new pots and pans; the ones that transfer heat evenly through the bottom (to compensate for the element that does not provide even heating)! Some people just get paid big $$ sitting around all day thinking this stuff up!  I want my coil stove back!

Inner element burned out. Either burner needs replacing or control switch is bad. Take out burner and see if coil has a break in it. IF not, then switch is bad. I cannot see your repyl due to some tech issue w/ the site, so it may be a day or so before I can reply again. Please leave feedback for me if appropriate. Thanks

Electric Burner Inner element

Could be either, but test the continuity of the heating elements with a multimeter first.

Front right burner under stove top model 62960002603 only heats to LOW heat. It has a single, dual, triple mode setting and will not heat up to highest setting. HELP.

I looked up the model number you gave. It is a Kenmore range. The part number for that element is 7406P494-60. When you say it only heats to low, do you mean that only the center portion of the element lights up? Normally, when this occurs, it is an indication that the middle element and outer elements have a break. The problem could also be a faulty infinite switch(burner control). The part for that particular control is 7450P011-60. You will need a voltage/ohm meter to troubleshoot further. This can be a very INVOLVED repair attempt. I recommend, that if you're not comfortable disassembling your unit, call for service--this can absolutely be a tricky diagnosis and much care is needed to not damage the glass cooktop when checking the element. I hope I helped you.

I have a eurolec double built under oven. When I turn the bottom oven on the rcd at the house consumer unit pops. The top oven works fine...

The elements in ovens consist of an outer earthed metal tube and an inner resistive element that is insulated from the outer tube by what is effectively a compressed ceramic insulating powder. If the element is not used for a while, enough atmospheric moisture, (or from spills, etc), can penetrate the insulation to cause enough earth leakage to trip the RCD. If the RCD is tripping at the correct level, (They can get too sensitive - see this article here:
Diagnosing RCD earth leakage breaker nuisance trips), then the only long term solution is to replace the element, although they can sometimes be dried out by heating them.

How do i turn the outer ring on for a dacor stove top

Pushing the button for the element will turn on the inner element at level 5. Before adjusting the level (so while the level indicator is still blinking) press the little circle on the right side of the controls for that element. The circle should light up. Now press the UP control for that element, and the level indicator should stop blinking. Now the outer and inner elements are both heating up. Adjust temp level to desired setting.

Dual element burner on glasstop range...inner element stays on

It is the burner control (behind the knob). The triac in the control has failed. $50 item, 10 minute change. Just make note which wire goes to which terminal.

I doubt that it is the control board, as the board has little to do with the stove top, but rather controls the display and the oven temperature/feedback monitoring.

Hope this helps.

Stove problem - outer cirlcle of an expandable element not working

You will need to call a professional these are very complicated and not easy to service, there are no fuses either. It will most likely be the element itself that has failed and they are not cheap. It also could be the switch too however it will take a person very familiar with schematics to properly diagnose it. Or you could just replace the element and switch yourself and that would most likely solve it.

Kenmore Elite 790 Range

I can't believe I found this today. Today, my Elite 790 inner coil also stopped working! A little too coincidental.

When I turn on the burner, I can hear like a relay click on, but it does not heat. The middle and outer burners are fine.
