Previous attempts of booting the system have failed check point [krst]
Try running the Check Disk Utility.
To run the check disk utility you will need a repair disc ora operating system disc. Put the disc in the cd drive and boot fromit. You want to get to the Dos Command Prompt (Black screen with whiteletters) and type the following command: chkdsk /r
Check disk will run well over an hour or two and you will notice thepercentages going from high to low, this is normal. Let it run tocompletion. Then reboot machine.
If check disk fails to solve your problem you might have to reinstall windows.Try doing a Repair Install that way you don't loose your data, documents, music, pictures, videos or programs.
In windows xp you get to the dos command prompt by selecting R for repair whenthe options appear.
In Vista and Windows 7 you want to get to the recoveryconsole and look down at the bottom of the window for the Dos Command.
Mine is a Dell GX260 and it does the same thing but the monitor flashes on and off and it won't let me get into anything. I can just catch a glimps of the Alert between flashes and it at times and have to read a few words at a time until i get the whole message. It continually beeps between flashes and will not let me get into anything. I have taken the battery out for over fifteen minutes and it did not reset anything. I have noticed two capacitors next to the memory slots that are puffed up on top. Wouold anyone know if this is related?
Try turning off your computer completely, then power it back on and continously hit the F8 key until you see the screen with different boot options. Use the keyboard down arrow keys and move down to "Disable Automatic Restart On System Failure" and press Enter. This will allow you to get a chance to read the error message that is causing your system to shut down without booting successfully. Power off the computer and start it up again so that you can read the error message.
Hitting F8 when you power on the computer should get you to a screen like the one shown in the attached picture.
You mentioned bulging capicators. That could be your problem. If that's the case just purchase another motherboard off eBay. Just make sure you get the same board that is on your computer. For your system a motherboard should be somewhere between $25 - $50. Before investing in a board, try swapping the memory chips around. If you have 2 chips installed, switch them around in the slots. If switching them around fails, then try using one chip at a time in each slot and reboot. A bad memory chip can stop the system from booting.
