Xperia play touch screen not working

im no expert, but i had the same problem last year, i was advised to install an update i found on the ericsson website, this seemed to solve the problem, although the problem arose again after a few months, at which stage i traded 4 a new one with my provider.

1- download a android update 2.1 or 2.2
2- update your phone offline with the update.
if it doesn't work:
flash your phone in a phone servicing shop.
