I have verified that it does connect using Ethereal. The following sites get visitedhttp://server2.netinfostation.com/gettim... which returns the correct date andhttp://server2.netinfostation.com/getwea... (Garbled info returned - not sure if this is expected)
Doe not appear to be firewall related
Seems to be related to the weather server. See below thread for detailshttp://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windo...
And from Sharper Image
We are sorry about this.
The internet service that provides the weather to your device is currently undergoing maintenance. The error you are receiving is not the fault of your receiver. All repairs should be completed within the next few days.
Thank you,
If you have a Sharper Image ES-WS115 five day forecast weather station I believe have found a way to return it to service. I picked up a unit at a local thrift store that was still brand new in the box with only the owners manual missing.
The manual is available at

Unfortunately the installer program on the CD only directs your web browser to a server that no longer exists to download the program to your PC.
After considerable searching the web I suspected the manufacturer of this product is NSHnordic.com. I found a similar product of their Ventus model W194 4-day forecast weather station. At this point I was willing to forego the fifth day if it would at least give any functionality. I downloaded their installer program for the W194 fromhttps://www.nshnordic.com/english/suppor...
This installer did download the program to my PC which easily installed.
I found that I needed to reboot for the program to load at this point.
If you do not see the user interface and after clicking the "4-Day Forecast" icon, get the message "This program is running on your computer", I start the Task Manager (Control/Alt/Delete), select the "Processes" tab, then select 4-Day Forecast.exe and then click the "End Process" button. Now when you start the program the user interface will display the first time you restart the program.
Once the program runs you should see the user interface and select the "HOME WEATHER" tab at the top then setting... button at the bottom. then click the "SET LOCATION" button make you selections then the "SAVE" button. Then select your preferences for Temperature, Wind speed, Time format, etc. Then click the "Save" button. At this point the program should display the current weather data. It's important you set-up the "Home Weather" as this is the data that will be sent by the transmitter to the main unit's display.
At this point I had trouble getting the weather data to transmit over to the display unit.
I wish I knew exactly what I did that finally worked but here are some of the things I tried.
1. Pressing the button on the bottom of the transmitter forces the unit to send data.
2. Disconnect the transmitter from the USB port, remove the batteries, wait a few seconds, reinstall the batteries, use a straightened paper clip the depress the reset button thru the small hole marked "R" visible with the battery cover removed near the "CE" molded on the bottom.
3. Uninstall and reinstall the program. This requires resetting your location and preferences info again and may require a reboot.
The data did slowly transferred to the display so give it a few minutes.
Happily, despite the software being designed for a 4-day forecast unit, I am getting all 5 days populated with all appropriate data.
Be persistent and good luck.
John
