My Brother HL-5250dn prints grey lines down the page, sometimes up to 4 evenly spaced.

I've replaced the drum and toner cartridge several times. It doesn't seem to help.

Do your lines appear running top to bottom of the paper or left to right  as the paper comes out of the printer? Also are there any signs of lines on the back "non printed side of the page" ?

  • Anonymous Jun 01, 2012

The lines run down the page, top to bottom, on the printed side only. Do you think it is the fuser? As I said in my comments, I have already changed the drum. However, it is a remanufactured drum, not an oem from Brother, which are really expensive.

SOURCE: toner light after 1K pages

On my unit, the toner light was lit steady amber and the Status light was steady red. I tore a small square out of a post it note, off the top (so that it had adhesive on it), and used that to cover the sensor path way found on either side of the toner cartridge. It is a clear plastic hole, centered toward the bottom of either side of the cartridge.

SOURCE: brother hl 5140 drum light comes on then off every 4

With the front cover open, press and hold down Go button until all 4 LEDs are lit. Once all 4 LEDs are lit, release the go button, then close the front cover.

This will reset the drum counter.

I have a 525DN Brother Printer which has started printing a line in the middle of the papers and dumping ink out of the left side of the cartridge - do you know what may be wrong?

Thin line? Print a diagnostic page (3 pushes on the go button) and try changing the toner cartridge or drum, depending of the page says.

Drum light is blinking and not sure how to change it or fix it in Brother HL-5250DN

Hit the purple/blue button on the top of the printer 3 times. This will print a settings report of the printer showing you the toner levels and the drum life.
If you need a new drum purchase one. (I would suggest a new printer at this time but if you like it continue on)
Open the front of the printer and pull out the toner and the drum cartridge. The drum is on the bottom of the toner. Disconnect the drum from the toner and connect the new drum. Replace the toner/drum and you are good to go.

Fuser Problem?? The ink does not cover the left side of the page

Pull out the toner/drum and on the backside there is a blueish/purple tab, it slides from side to side along a corona wire. Move the tab back and forth several times and then put the toner/drum back in and reprint.
Below are the instructions on how to accomplish this task.

Prints documents but there is a grey hue on all the pages

You might try changing the toner cartridge. While you have the toner drum cartridge out, clean the carona wire by moving the blue tab on the drum to the left and right several times. Be sure to store the tab all the way to the left before you reinsert the drum/toner cartridge assembly.
