The caller-id on our phone quit working. When we hit the button to review the light doesn't come on and the caller-id doesn't work. It always reads new calls:0. I tried replacing the batteries, unplugging the phone line and the power connection. The phone has not been dropped or hit. It sits on our night stand and there hasn't been any power outages. Any suggestion?
Hi..another followup to the earlier Emerson Smartset phone problems. My phone "conked out" again today. Couldn't get backlight on, clear caller id, etc. I did the 3 hour routine,(disconnect phone, AC power and 9V battery). Restarted it just now and everything is back to normal. Why? I have no idea. Patience is the key with these phones. At the least, keep your cool and methodically work thru the steps I outlined earlier this year. Good Luck...
This is a followup to my earlier suggestion. My caller id is working. So, the culprit had to be related to the 9V battery. Just try my earlier solution from 1/20/07. If it works..fine. If not, bye-bye to the phone.
I'm back...The 9V battery was part of my problem. At least now, I have the LCD lit up and was able to reset the area code and LCD intensity. I'm going to have to watch the CID angle and see what happens when people start to call me. As I mentioned, I did not use this phone much in the past two years (a spare in the basement) so I don't know it's peculiarities. Will try to let you know if things are functioning normally. In any event, disconnect everything (phone line, pull the 9V and unplug unit). Wait the three hours, but put in a fresh 9V. I thought my battery was new, but maybe it was a dud. In any event, another new 9V did get the LCD, area code settings to work again. I have to wait and see if the phone's brain is working. Richard
I have the same problem with my unit. Emerson customer service made some suggestions, including pulling the 9V battery, disconnecting the phone from phone and power for 3 hours, etc. Their first suggestion (earlier this morning) was to Push "Up" button and hold for 4 seconds, then pressing the "delete" button three times and re-pressing the "Up" button for 6 seconds. That procedure failed. I'm in the midst of the 3 hour wait after full disconnect of phone line and 120V plug. I don't think my phone will come back. I'll be happy if it does. Good luck with yours...Richard

I have the same problem and this is the second emerson clock radio phone this has happened to. The manufacturer says they can't help. Did you figure anything out?
