My HP officejet 5610v scanner is not operational (no scan options). The software I have is outdated (Windows XP): I have Vista. How can I obtain the software to make the scanner operational?

Go to this and download it. Then everything will work on vista. Hard to believe HP doesn't just tell you that. I spent hours searching for fixes on numerous sites and this simple download makes everything work on a Vista 64 bit system that would not work before.

All you have to do is get the Windows Vista Software and drivers from the HP support page. Make sure download the recommend "Scanning on Vista Update" dated 08-2008

Scanner won't work with windows vista

Option one: Scan using Windows Fax and Scan
  1. Click the Windows icon (c01319360.gif ), click Programs , and then click Windows Fax and Scan .
    NOTE: The Windows Fax and Scan option is available in the Business, Ultimate, and Enterprise editions of Windows Vista. If you have the Home Basic or Home Premium edition of Windows Vista, skip to Option two: Scan using Paint .

Scanner won't work

Hi,
The all in one solution software you used in XP doesn't work fully with Vista.

But you can still scan and copy by using Windows Photo Gallery.

1. Click on files tab at the top in Window Photo Gallery.
2. Click on import from camera or scanner.
3. Highlight your scanner icon (ie HP J5780) then click import.
4. New scan window will popup, now you can preview or scan using this basic looking Vista utility.

My scanner is not working...The printer is working properly. When I click on the Scan button it asks me for a source but i have no sources as an option.

The all in one solution software you used in XP doesn't work fully with Vista.

Hp officejet 5610v all in one insallation software for windows vista

Try this link. It is the full intall file for the all in one being run on a Vista Machine. It worked fine for my installation.

Muck around on the site for a bit, and you can also find the same install file for Windows XP.

HP OFFICEJET 5610V No scan options

If you get the error while trying to scan with your HP 5610v All-In-One, the easy way to scan from your printer is to click on start, go to Paint and then File, the option "From Scanner or Camera" will come up.. click there and poof - you can scan anything you want and save it where you want... Problem solved!! good luck!!!

After hours of trying things.I found this and it worked. The scanner button doesn't work, but at least I can scan.

No Scan Options Error Message

Pressing of scan button feature is no longer supported by hp drivers, if installed correctly one scans using scanners and fax


When the scan button is pressed on the printer, nothing happens. The scan button does not work correctly. Solution Scan documents using Windows Fax and Scanning or Paint. Scanning with Windows Fax and Scanning
  1. Click the Start (c00845897.gif ) icon.
  2. Click All Programs .
  3. Click Windows Fax and Scanning .
  4. Click New Scan .
  5. Click File and then click Scan .
