We installed some Lanier LP37n printers onto a network. The printer works fine then all of a sudden will be unaccessible on the network. We cannot even ping it. If we change the IP address from a working like printer, it still will not work. As if the router has restricted access by the MAC address. We had to replace the printer with a like printer. Now another is experiencing the same problem.

It has lost it's Ip address or your queu is backed up and has to be cleared. 1 go to Start, Settings, Control panel, printers and faxes is your printer there? No, then download. 2 go back to step 1 right click on your printer and go to properties go to Port put your mouse between the Port and Description line that seperaates them, right click and drag that line over to the right, it will show you the IP address. That has to match the network card IP address try printing a Configuration page from the menu of the printer it will show you what the actual IP is.

Do you have other printer drivers installed, if so thre may be a driver conflict. wireless printing requires network connection and also printer drivers. This appears to be a driver issue since the printer shows up on the network. I would try reinstalling the drivers.

Hi!
I was able to locate this information for you on tht Toshiba FAQ section of their tech support site. Here is it, verbatim:
How do I discover the MAC address of the Brother network card?
To discover the MAC address of your Brother network card you will need
to print out a Network Configuration Report. To print this report
complete the following steps:
1. On the Brother machine press MENU.
2. Use the up or down arrow key to scroll to PRINT REPORTS and Press OK.
3. Use the up or down arrow key to scroll to NETWORK CONFIG and Press
OK.
4. Press BLACK START
5. The Network Configuration report will print. On the report, find the
section labeled <(><<)>Ethernet Address>. (Example: <(><<)>Ethernet Address> 00-80-77-90-0a-8c) This is the MAC address of your
Brother network card.

I found a solution that worked for me by prowling around various Apple discussion forums. The two keys to the solution for me were numbers 3 and 5 below.
1. Opened print/fax preferences
2. Opened Add printer by clicking the +
3. For protocol, select HP jetdirect-socket (not IPP or LDP)
4. Determined the IP address for my Belkin wired print server and typed this into the Address line of printer setup
5. Manually selected the printer driver as ML-2010. It is in the list of drivers but is in the M's, not under the Samsung drivers.
6. This worked for me. I've seen reports from people who had to power cycle their print server and/or printer as well.
