Lanier LP37n loses network connectivity. As if MAC address is restricted.

We installed some Lanier LP37n printers onto a network. The printer works fine then all of a sudden will be unaccessible on the network. We cannot even ping it. If we change the IP address from a working like printer, it still will not work. As if the router has restricted access by the MAC address. We had to replace the printer with a like printer. Now another is experiencing the same problem.

SOURCE: Cannot connect to printer

It has lost it's Ip address or your queu is backed up and has to be cleared.

1 go to Start, Settings, Control panel, printers and faxes is your printer there? No, then download.

2 go back to step 1 right click on your printer and go to properties go to Port put your mouse between the Port and Description line that seperaates them, right click and drag that line over to the right, it will show you the IP address. That has to match the network card IP address try printing a Configuration page from the menu of the printer it will show you what the actual IP is.

SOURCE: HP C4380, Wireless Printing Problem

Do you have other printer drivers installed, if so thre may be a driver conflict. wireless printing requires network connection and also printer drivers. This appears to be a driver issue since the printer shows up on the network. I would try reinstalling the drivers.

SOURCE: Samsung ML 2010 under mac os X 10.5

I found a solution that worked for me by prowling around various Apple discussion forums. The two keys to the solution for me were numbers 3 and 5 below.

1. Opened print/fax preferences
2. Opened Add printer by clicking the +
3. For protocol, select HP jetdirect-socket (not IPP or LDP)
4. Determined the IP address for my Belkin wired print server and typed this into the Address line of printer setup
5. Manually selected the printer driver as ML-2010. It is in the list of drivers but is in the M's, not under the Samsung drivers.
6. This worked for me. I've seen reports from people who had to power cycle their print server and/or printer as well.

How to connect to wifi on pro 950

I found this on google. Hope this helps:

Q: I've tried to install the product's software for a wireless connection, but cannot complete the installation. What should I do? A: Do the following: Important: You'll need to know your network name (SSID) and network password before you can set up your product. If you don't know them, contact the manufacturer of your router or the person who set up your network.
If you know your security settings, continue with these steps:

  1. Reset the product's network settings. Press the home_button.gif home button, if necessary. Select Setup. Scroll down and select Restore Default Settings. Select Wi-Fi/Network Settings. You see a confirmation screen. Select Yes to reset the selected settings. (Select No if you want to cancel the operation.)
  2. Turn your router off and back on. Important: If your router is connected to other devices, you may need to re-establish the connection for the other devices on the network.
  3. Close all applications (including any screen savers, virus protectors, and firewall software) before you install the software.

  4. Uninstall the printer software (Windows only), then reinstall the printer software.
If the steps above for a wireless connection do not help, check the additional troubleshooting tips below, then try steps 1 through 4 again.

  • If you're setting up the printer for the first time, make sure you have the correct SSID (wireless network name) and if security is enabled, the wireless network password (WEP key or WPA passphrase). This information is stored in your network's router and you may be able to access it by logging onto the router from your computer and checking its setup screens. If you are unable to access the information, contact the person who set up your network or the manufacturer of your router or access point for details. (Epson will not be able to provide this information to you.) You'll need to know the SSID and wireless network password before you set up the printer.
Note: The SSID and security key or passphrase are case sensitive. Be sure to correctly note uppercase, lowercase, and numeric/special letters.
  • If your wireless router or access point is set to not broadcast its Network name (SSID), you'll need to enter the SSID manually in the printer's setup software. If your wireless router or access point has wireless security enabled, you'll also need to know what kind of security it is using. Epson will not be able to provide this information to you. If you don't know this information, you'll need to contact the manufacturer of your router or the person who set up your network.

  • Make sure the product is within range of the wireless router or wireless access point.

  • Avoid placing the printer near a microwave oven, 2.4 GHz cordless phone, or large metal objects such as a filing cabinet.

  • Check to see if access restrictions, such as MAC address filtering, are set on the router or access point. If access restrictions are set, add your product's MAC address to your router's address list. If you're unsure on how to do this, contact the manufacturer of your router for instructions. To obtain your product's MAC address, print a network status sheet.

  • Disable any settings (such as AP Isolation, Client Isolation, or Privacy Separator) on your wireless router or access point that would prevent wireless devices from communicating with each other.

  • Make sure your system meets the requirements.

  • Make sure all applications (including any screen savers, virus protectors, and firewall software) are closed.

  • Make sure you have administrative rights or software installation privileges to your computer.

Set up a Wireless printer on your Router for use with a wired PC

First install the Wireless printer driver using the Wizard by connecting either the Ethernet cable to the router during the install process when asked this will set up your wireless laptop with the correct printer port based on the Wireless Node Name it will also use the printers inbuilt MAC address. This is standard install and will work for all your Wireless PC's however if you have a Wired (ethernet) PC connected to your Router this process will not work a wireless port will not work with a wired computer.

Follow my 3 steps below to set up standard IP ports for Wired PC's also connected to your Router.

STEP 1: Find your MAC address for the wireless printer (all types of Network Cards will have one so this is no different) this will either be found under the LCD control panel or may even be printer on the bottom of the printer or Print server if it is seperate set this MAC address with an IP address as a reservation in your admin panel of your router 192.168.0.10 in this example.

You can normally enter your Router this using 192.168.0.1 typed in your browser (not the search engine) as all routers are different check here for your make and model http://www.routerpasswords.com if you can't find the MAC address try using ipconfig /all from them command prompt it will be the physical address aka the MAC address

STEP 2:
Install the Printer as a USB printer port by connecting the USB cable to the PC you want the wired printer driver installed on when finished go to the printer driver properties for the driver you have just added, click the port tab and click add standard IP port as shown below, then disconnect the USB lead this is only required to make sure the correct inf file is used on the driver install and connect your Ethernet cable from you computers NIC to a spare RJ45 socket on the Router.

cbcad4f.jpg

STEP 3: To check that the Printer has the correct IP address then test using the tracert OR ping command for the IP address that you have reserved on your router, this is a necessary step otherwise when the lease expires it may take another IP address and your Printer driver will not work unless your printer has the reserved address, it will throw a printer error.

c:ping 192.168.0.10

74e72f6.jpg

(this example shows a Standard TCP/IP Port for a Brother DCP-340CW)

Also check in your routers admin panel to see if the Wireless Printer is set up with the correct IP and MAC address, if you still can't find it eliminate your known MAC addresses from all your network cards the one left will be your Printer Server NIC in your Wireless Printer.

If you have setup the incorrect IP and or MAC address you will get this window when you try to add the TCP/IP port

That's it try a test print and you will see it burst into life.... Happy Printing

Have done everything ( used disc) to install new Brother MFC 495cw. It works with the USB cable to the main computer, but will not work wireless with our laptops. We have NETGEAR and I have put on the MAC...

If I understand correctly you using MAC #s with your netgear router, you must find the mac address for that printer

1. if are given the printer a ip address type the ip address at the top of your web browser 192.167.0.0 example, they must display the mac address some where on the internal web page of the printer
2. Sometimes it is in the menu section of print itself under network connections.
3. added the MAC # under in internal web page of the netgear router

IMac connection to lanier ld122

Does this printer have the PS option installed? If not you will be unable to print even if you clear up the network issue.

As far as network goes is it currently connected and working with other PCs?
Mac printing is easily setup by typing the IP address of equip in the queue box upon setup. I believe the default queue name is "print" all lower case. If IP in unable to work properly make sure lanier has appletalk turned on and setup printer using appletalk.

Again if the machine doesn't have Postscript option you won't be able to print anything.

Hope this helps,

Connecting a Oki C5300N as a 2:nd printer in my Mac-network..

Good Day Joromich,

Sounds like your problem is just an IP address conflict. The easiest way to fix this is going to be through the front panel of the printer. You will need to configure the NIC to DHCP AUTO. This will allow the switch/router to configure the printer to the IP address schema your network is using.

You should also check you switch/router settings to ensure if you are using MAC address filtering (this has nothing to do with your Mac computer). The MAC address is the physical hardware address of any NIC device. It is the "permanent" device identifier that the manufacturer has assigned to the NIC. If your switch/router is configured to use MAC address filtering you will need to know this address. It will be a series of HEX values similar to this:

AE:02:4F:3B:55:2F

And is usually located on a sticker on the outside of the NIC adapter, if not you might need to remove the card from the printer to check it, however you should be able to obtain a NIC configuration page from the printer through the control panel. If you are using this additional level of network security (helps to prevent rogue devices from attaching to the network), you will need to add the MAC address to the switch/router filtering table. Most home network users do not use this additional layering of security, but when using wireless access points/routers, every extra bit of network security helps.

Once you have reconfigured the printer for you network IP schema through the use of DHCP, the network should now see the device. If you are configuring your printer drivers to print to the IP address of the device, you should disable the DHCP AUTO setting once everything is working. Otherwise the switch/router will replace the printer IP address once the lease is expired then causing your printer not to be accessible again.

Once the switch/router has provided the new printer with an IP address, you will be able to access the internal web page of the printer through your Internet browser. At this point you can then change the IP address configuration to DHCP OFF. This will prevent the printer NIC from making an IP address request and keep the IP address that has been assigned as a STATIC address.

Configuring the printer driver on the Mac is easy, once the device has been added to the network, the Mac Add Printer Utility will see the IP address of the printer and you can use this to print directly to it rather than using AppleTalk. As for problem of not having the orignal install CD, not a problem as the printer is listed within the Mac OS printer table. If you want to use the Oki OEM driver follow the link listed here:

http://my.okidata.com/pp-C5300n.nsf/openingdrivermenu?OpenFrameSet

Select the one you want and install it as usual. Hope this helps get you going.

Cheers, Happy New Year!

Printer busy/or error

Sounds like your machine is using DHCP, not a static IP address?

Print your network settings from the Printer, then try to Ping from a computer on the network.

Check the Network setting of the machine, make sure it is set to a fixed (static) IP Address.

If this is the problem, you can go into your PC printers port and change the port to the reassigned IP Address of the machine.

If you reinstall the drivers then you will have this installed twice, one will work one will not, so delete it from the printers folder before you reinstall before you reinstall
