Can't get the Samsung HT-z310 Home Theater to stay on AUX2

Our setup is as follows:
DVR/Cable box to TV HDMI1
DVD/Home theater to TV HDMI2
DVR/Cable box audio out to Audio IN on DVD/Home Theater. (so we can listen to the cable audio through home theater system)

We turn on the cable box, turn on the TV and set it to HDMI1. Then we turn on the Samsung Theater and set its function to AUX2. A few moments later the Samsung switchs to DVD function and the TV auto switchs to HDMI2. Once it switchs over, we reselect HDMI1 on the TV and AUX2 on Home theater... 5-10 seconds later the Samsung switchs to DVD function and the TV auto switchs to HDMI2.
What do we need to do to keep the Home Theater set to AUX2??

    I have the same problem. If fact, the FM radio will default back to the DVD after 5-10 seconds as well; the only aux setting that works is the IPod connection.

You need a fibre optical cable for this, simply you connect that from your dvd to tv and then set the input on the dvd to digi in. i have exactly same home cinema system.

Does not switch to its external speakers

You have a cabling and/or setup issue and need to check your hardware manuals (or find them online) for instructions.

I have a Samsung HT-C550, a DirecTV satellite box, a Vizio 37" HDTV, a Sony 5-disk DVD player and a Vizio Blu-Ray DVD player, all peacefully co-existing (with the use of a bunch of cables as well as a Logitech Harmony 700 universal remote).

The TV (not the home theater) controls the use of the TV speakers.

There are multiple options to get this to work. I run an HDMI cable from the sat box to the TV. (HDMI sends audio & video to the TV). I then run an optical cable from the TV to the CT550 and use the "D-In" setting to get the sound to play.

Instead of the optical cable from TV to CT550, you can run audio from the sat/cable box directly to the CT550 using (red/white) RCA cables from the "audio out" jacks on the sat/cable box to the "AUX1" or "AUX2" inputs on the CT550"

Hope this helps!!

Sound from Onkyo CD player well and fine. Then connected the Samsung DVD HT-Z310 to Video3 (L/R audio in, V-in from L/R Audio out and V-out of Samsung) but no sound or nor video on TV? Tried to fix it...

What am I missing here?

There are a lot of models mentioned in this post. What are WE discussing?

* A Samsung HT-Z310 is a Home Theater System.

* An Onkyo TX-DS777 is higher-end AV Receiver that DOES have a Video 3 input which accepts composite video and analog audio.

* An Onkyo CD player is irrelevant to the TV sound in any scenario.

* Unnamed TV.

I don't see any path in your narrative that would carry audio TO the TV. Is there an unmentioned HDMI cable in here somewhere? I see no other audio outputs on the HTZ.

Are you running the HT-Z310 through an Onkyo receiver to somewhere (?) else?

The fewer hops and inteconnects a given signal experiences between its source and your senses, the better. I always run the BEST video from any source to the TV first; the best Audio to the BEST audio electronics. If that helps.

Digital In on Samsung HT-Z310 no sound

Optical into your XBOX 360? If there is a connector that you are using to convert it, I was start by replacing that.

Samsung z310

You have to press the AUX button and set the HTS unit to D. IN (DIGITAL IN)
AUX 2 only works for the regular red & white audio cables.

Hope this helps!

Samsung ht-z310 home theatre audio problem

All,

I submitted an earlier request trying to determine why surround sound wasn't coming through all speakers when playing my TV.

Looking further into the Samsung site I found out that you MUST connect the optical cable from the home theater unit to the CABLE BOX and not to your TV to get surround sound...I'm currently in the office but will change the connection once home...try connecting to your CABLE BOX instead of your TV and it should resolve the problem.
