GE Refrigerator (side by side) - GSL25JFTA Serial #AM254662 Around a week and a half ago i started to notice my refrigerator was no longer keeping things cold so I first tried adjusting the control panel temperature. I adjusted the settings from 6 up to 8 and then 9 without a noticable change. I also noticed the refrigerator is always running now and never seems to reach the proper temperature. The freezer seems to be keeping food frozen. So a week later I decided to vacuum behind the lower freezer area to remove any dust. I also unplugged the unit for 35 minutes while hair drying the inside of the freezer and removing any surface frost on the inner back wall. I did not inspect the coils which I believe is behind the inner rear wall of the freezer. Once this was done i plugged unit back in and listened to it fire back up. Everything sounded normal and I also rechecked the freezer to make sure the fan was kicking on. Might this be a Heater defrost or thermostat? Where are these located if so? Is there schematics available? Part #'s? Anything else I can test or check? Thx!

Feel the doors at handle height where they meet when closed. If it's noticeably warm on that thin spot it's time to 1st unplug the unit, 2nd remove the grill by the floor and 3rd carefully vacuum the underside. Don't be rough about it. The cooling pipes and fan base can be fragile and easily damaged...resulting in the purchase of a new fridge.

SOURCE: The Refrigerator is 2 years old, and is no longer

Hi Chris,

The problem would seem to be that you developed a small leak in the refrigeration system. This is also assuming that you checked and cleaned the condenser coils which are underneath the fridge. Excessive dirt could also cause this, but from what you are describing I would say the problem is more then that and you have a leak...

The only other thing would be thermostat sensor issues, but then the compressor would be cycling and not running steady...

Freezer not cooling/making ice.

At this moment I think that you need to unplug the refrigerator and remove the ice maker to stop the leaking. Any extra water inside the freezer will make it harder for the defrost to remove the moisture. While the ice maker is out I want you to look to see if water is still leaking out the fill tube that feeds the ice maker tray. If it is then we found the reason. If not then we need to check some of the parts on the ice maker. Let me know what you find, Thanks, Sea Breeze

My GE Refrigerator Clicks for hours but will not start.

Clicking you describe sounds like a bad motherboard. Water dispenser issues have been result of frozen water in the tubing in the bottom of the FF area, which you should not have at the moment, so if it is not dispensing water now I'd check the water valve coil. (there are two coils on the inlet valve, one for the icemaker and one for the water dispenser.)
