If your remote won't work at all, then you'll need to get a new remote from Samsung to control all functions. If however, everything works on the remote but the volume, keep the original for all other functions and just use a cheap universal remote programmed to the Samsung code to control the volume. I had the same thing happen on a Sony THIB remote for a HT. I used a Scientific Atlanta to turn it on and off, as well as control the volume, but retained the original remote so I could get at all other functions. If you have to buy a new Samsung remote or if you buy one of those high-dollar universal remotes that program a zillion functions it will cost you big. Fair warning.

Doesanyone have a code for volume control of Samsung Soundbar HW-J250.
This is not a solution - just more information. I chatted with each of Samsung, Motorola and Comcast. Each said the determination of the code was someone else's "responsibility". Comcast gave me additional codes - none worked. I tried the "learn" process for the Comcast remote. It got me half way there. It will turn my HT off, but not on - go figure. Unfortunately, I think this is just another example of Samsung building and selling stuff without being sufficiently concerned with how consumers will or can use it. Why can't anyone other than Apple figure out that these are consumer devices first and foremost?
Use your Directv remote. Use code 10812, remember to program it to change tv inputs also. then program the same remote to control volume on your Sony receiver. Go to the menu on the directv box and follow the onscreen instructions.
Hi,
You need to put away the remote for your TV and use only the remote for your HT system. Your HT remote should work on your TV by default. Your Samsung HT remote should have a TV button and a DVD/Receiver button (or HT button). When using only the TV, press the TV button and then use it for just the TV and when using the HT system, press the DVD/Receiver button and then you can use the HT system.
If for some reason your TV is not set on the Samsung HT remote by default, your HT users manual should have a list of codes that you can use to program your HT remote. Hope that helps you. Gary
Just try to clean your remote, this the common problem of dirty contacts of remote it plays a certain unit but to the other won't play.Just open it take a toothbrush with an alcohol brush the remote control board, and dry it for 1minute and close it back then check if working..
