SOURCE: Acura MDX A/C won't come on

I went to an Acura dealer to buy the transistor for the rear A/C unit. The service advisor told me that the problem with the front A/C was probably due to a defective front transistor / resistor. I bought that part too.

The front transistor is located next to the blower motor under the dash on the passenger's side. It is secured by three or four small bolts. The one on the bottom left is very close to the carpet and the most difficult to get off and put back on.

The rear transistor is located behind the carpeted trim panel on the center console (driver's side). The carpeted trim panel is secured by clips only - there are no screws, so remove it carefully starting at the side near the accellerator pedal. Once the panel has been removed, reach inside a small hole in the metal frame to access the rear transistor. It is removed by twisting it and pulling it out. The hole in the frame is small and you might find pliers helpful.

After replacing both parts, the front and rear A/C are working. Apparently these transistors are common failures. If the A/C is out in your Acura MDX and the fuse checks good, a new transistor will likely solve your problem.

SOURCE: 2001 Acura MDX Stalling.

you may want to check the ground wire for the engine; if the car just shut down it's possibly an electrical. if the ends are corroded replace.

Air condition?

Sounds like the controller or the compressor clutch itself.

Why is the rear air conditioner on Acura MDX 2004 not working?

If like older style vans it will have second compressor at back of vehicle this probably needs a charge or new compressor

Now the other part is if it has running ducts you need to see if any cracked or split from front to back
Run snake cam threw air ducts wont cost anything for a look at any mechanic shop
Belts barrings and tensioners check out
Pull off belt and turn ac by hand if theres resistance replace compressor
Your dryer on system could need a clean out and cabin filter

2004 acura mdx. turn on air conditioner - no air blows from front. rear air blows, but not cool. cannot hear compressor coming on. checked fuses - they look okay.

I have the same problem with my MDX. I live in the Bahamas and there are no Acura dealerships here. I had two mechanics look at it and they could not fix the problem, so I took matters into my own hands. After checking for blown fuses I did a self diagnosis on the climate control panel, I got a DTC that related to a fault in the blower motor circuit. I went through the step by step diagnosis of the circuit and found that the blower motor was faulty. Acura's climate control has a couple sensor that monitor the blower speed, if the sensor do not detect that the blower is running they will not allow the compressor to run, in essence the rear blower will run but the system will not cool. You may need to replace the blower. The quickest way to check if the blower is faulty is to pull the connector off the blower, turn the iignition on and the ac system on, You should get battery voltage on the connector. If you have battery voltage at the connector and the fan doesn't run the youv'e solved the problem. If you don't have voltage at the connector with the ignition switch on and the ac system on you problem could be the front blower power transistor. If you need diagrams and how to retrieve self diagnostic DTC contact me: [email protected]

Changed battery of my 2002 acura mdx, need codes for radio nav

You need to get the serial number off the sticker attached to the radio and nav. It will require pulling apart your dash. Call an Acura dealership with that serial number and they should be able to provide you the code. Or you can take it directly to the dealer but you will be charged labor.
