A lot of times, the reason ice production slows down is because the freezer isn't cold enough, usually because the freon level of the machine is low. Sounds weird, but even though the freezer is below 32 degrees F, which is freezing, the ice maker requires the temperature be below 10 to function properly. Another cause for the temperature not being cold enough is if the coils are dirty and ther machine is passing the heat to the machine itself
