Machine worked fine for 18 months. Suddenly, when using, kept jumping from Music to radio and after several minutes of doing this turned itself off. I can now not even turn it on. The Menu button on the side appears to be pressed in slightly, suggesting it may be stuck down (which is why it would keep going onto radio). I have taken off the cover and fiddled with buttons, but no joy. Has anyone else had this problem and resolved it? Can it be repaired? Can I get my music files off it if necessary, even though it will not switch on? Any suggestions gratefully received.
I had this problem when my Lyra PDP2842U was in warranty and it was repaired. Nothing I did would get it to work. If yours is out of warranty then I suspect a official repair is out of the question cost wise and reapiring yourself looks to be a no goer. Selling on ebay as a spares or repair looks to be the only way to go (or buy another with a screen/HDD fault). Or take a look here - seem to quite a few with HDD errors who might want to sell cheap.

It is amazing what WD-40 can be used for! After taking the machine apart, I noticed the buttons were depressing but then not spring back up. As a last resort a gave a quick (careful) spray of WD-40 on the inner workings of the offending buttons, pressed them in and used a precision screwdriver to prise them up. I repeated this a few times on each button and hey presto ... the machine is now in full working order.
