SOURCE: The push to open door

It may be that the push button, cam lever or door latch (or all three) have some grease accumulated on them that's making it sticky to open.

Or the rear surface of the push button or the face of the lever may be so worn that the door latches don't get pushed up all the way anymore.

These door opening parts are all located behind the control panel and pretty easy to get to so you can observe them as you press the button. That way you can figure out which is bad.

At our site, we have a video showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

KitchenAid microwave oven model kcms 1555. The button for the door does not have any tension as a result the door will not latch close, light will not turn off

It sounds like the door spring had broken. Take the covers off and it should be apparent what had happened. It may be a part you can get at the hardware store or it may be an OEM part.

When I press the button to open myMicrowave it starts to run. It did this for I week. Today I did the same thing push the bottom to open the door it open but nothing happen meaning no light on or nothing....

There are several switches (usually 3) located and attached to the door latch area of the microwave. One is a safety interlock that keeps the Micro from running with the door open. At first one of the switches were sticking slightly giving you the attempted run. Then enough stuck to cause the safety to sense it. The safety usually will blow the internal fuse or house breaker. If you are going to get it fixed, best to replace all the door switches and then the fuse also. If by chance it still blows the fuse again you have other problems. At this point I think its just the door switches and fuse.

Why will door not open

Hi,
This happens when the latch hook loosens up and moves so that the door will not open when you press the button.
It's a very easy fix, but should be done by a repair person so that the door can be adjusted propery and no microwaves escape.

Broke a hinge off our microwave door. Can't open it, don't know how to fix it.

If the hinge piece broke off, can you show it? Have you pushed in while pushing "open"? Tried to GENTLY pry the door at the edge with straight slot screw driver?

Can not open the door in microwave the release button springs seem to not working can that be fixed. Have opened the release button but cannot see the problem

Do not pry the door open since there is an easier remedy which will lead you in the direction that you need to fix your problem. Take the cover off after you disconnect the power to it. Once you have taken the cover off (only a few screws) you will be able to see the two latches that hold the door closed and the link that opens both of them. You can just lift both latches at the same time and it will open. After you have done that take a good look and press in on the open door button and you will see where you have the problem of the door hanging. That button should push a linkage that pushes up on both latches at once to open the door. It is spring loaded so that it comes back down so that when you close the door it will hold the door close. You need to take the cover off the microwave so that you can pull both of the latches that hold the door closed up. When you push the button in it engages a linkage that pushes both taches up at the same time to open the door. It is springloaded and will come back down during normal operation to hold the door closed when you close it again. That area is where your problem is. By looking at what happens when you press the open door button you should be able to readily see where the problem lies in that linkage
