If you have already changed the aspect ratio on your TV, then change it on your cable or Sat box. Your TV appears to be operating normal.

Sounds like the Green CRT drive board is needing replacement. The Green CRT could also be bad but usually the set will shut down if its the CRT, so I would try the Green CRT drive you can get one from www.tvrepairworld.com

You do not have any bulbs in this set. You have 3 CRT's. You can not get them anymore. You would have to pull all 3 out and send them in to have them rebuilt. For the cost of that, I would purchase a new TV.

I have a sony KP-51HW40 and when i turn it on about 5 minutes later it shuts it off.

If the TV works fine during the 5 minutes its on then your power supply in the tv is heating up and shutting off. If you have some mechanical knowledge you can buy another power supply from Ebay for around 35.00 and replace it. will require some soldering

Hi,
This kind of problem occurs due to failure of convergence output ICs in Sony KP-51HW40 tv.
Replace convergence output ICs to solve tv problem.
Local tv repairman will do this job if you have no experience of electronics stuff repair.

probably contamination in the picture tubes is a lengthy job to change the fluid in all three tubes is also costly. probably as well off to purchase new set.

Screen shakes / jumps vertically on my Sony KP-51HW40

The jitter is called a vertical sync problem. The problem is on the "A" board. It can be replaced or rebuilt but will be quite expensive to service.

this tv has three parts to screen , the most outer part is called CONTRAST screen part # 408195411 for the model you gave.This is available @ sony.com (parts&access) Please make sure this what you need and model is correct..Good luck
