To start it, I open the lid and close it hard, and the cycle will complete. Is this a major problem or easy to fix?

My Kenmore 400 washer does the following. If I start a wash cycle it goes through entire wash cycle without draining ever, just washes until it ends. If I lift and close the lid when the timer gets...

lid switch stops machine from spinning when the lid is open, Make sure the lid is fully closed. Loose screws on the lids right side not holding metal arm properly, or the arm is not positioned properly (the end which is pointed down when the lid is open needs to be slightly farther away from you, towards the back of the machine, to actuate the switch fully: or the lid switch itself which is underneath the top,

I was washing clothes -- in the rinse cycle and the washer just stopped -- I think right before it was to drain the water. I redistributed clothes, turned the knob until it was in the rinse cycle again...

It sounds like your lid switch is bad . Raise the lid , and insert something into the lid switch hole on the top ( where the lid actuator goes into the hole ) , to see if the washer drains . Without your complete model number , can't give you a part number .

Rinse cycle not complete

Sounds like not spinning.
First check the lid switch.
Manually set the timer for spin and turn it on.
Open and close the lid.
If no spin replace the direct drive coupling on the motor.
About a $30 part.

Problem in my washing Machine

If your timer is stopping at the drain cycler (before the rinse) check the LID SWITCH. Most washers will not drain or continue the cycle if this switch is not closed. Open the lid and look for an opening in the housing were the lid sits. try depressing it manually while the timer is at the drain cycle.
