Several times now the "Do You Want Auto Tune" sign comes on the screen. If I press CH+ it runs through some channels but then stops and the message reappears. If I press CH- it either removes the message for 3-5 seconds or does nothing. -- We have tried changing the batteries but nothing happens. When I press the code reset button on Sony remote the buttons light up but the TV does nothing. I can not get the TV to turn on or off, control volume or channels. The satellite remote will change the channels and recall but now the on/off and volume don't respond. I have done everything mentioned in the Sony and Dish troubleshooting pages and need help. Thanks,
I am having the same problem with the "initial setup" screen flashing repeatedly/ intermittently. It's not a problem with the remote. In the research I have done online, it seems as though this is a common/known problem with the Wegas that will require a service visit. Apparently the problem is a defective receiver chip. The best thread I found is at: http://www.agoraquest.com/viewtopic.php?topic=15393&forum=34&start=0&select_page_number=1 I've seen some speculation that it is caused by windex or cleaning fluid dripping down when the screen is cleaned and corroding one of the internal components. That's not applicable in my case, since I always just clean the screen with a microfiber dusting cloth. So, I guess I will be calling a repairman and spending $$$ to fix as it is now flashing up so often as to be unwatchable. Ridiculous, I think, given that my TV is only 3 years old!!
Just wanted to add...I decided to try one last thing yesterday before calling a repairman. I had read a suggestion somewhere to try doing a "hard reboot" of the TV by unplugging it and leaving it unplugged for at least four hours. That seems to have solved the problem for me, at least temporarily as I had the set on for a few hours last night with no problems. We'll see...
Just thought I'd report back in case anyone else is still struggling with this ridiculous problem. Since my first post, this problem recurred for me, but infrequently - the "hard reboot" seemed to work every time, and it would thereafter be problem free for several months. This weekend, however, the TV went crazy. With no warning, the "initial setup" screen began flashing, while at the same time cycling through the various modes (TV, DVD, VCR, AUX, etc.) AND cycling the volume up as loud as it would go!
The TV was non-responsive to both the remote and the power button on the TV itself, so I yanked the power cord as it was blaring at top volume. Left it unplugged overnight, plugged it back in, and immediately the same thing happened - as fast as I pushed the volume down button, it would automatically push itself up to max volume. I unplugged again for several hours, but nothing worked.
So, my barely 5 YEAR OLD Sony TV is now completely dead, and I'm going shopping tonight to replace it. My new TV will NOT be a Sony. Shame on them for doing nothing to address this very common problem with the Wegas - my TV may have been out of warranty when I started having problems, but I don't think it's unrealistic to expect a $600 television to last longer than 3-5 years, especially when the internet is rife with reports of people with this very same problem.

I cannot change channels the normal way becuase when I try to adjust the volume it changes channels. It just started doing this I had this TV for about five years and the picture is still great. Could someone please help.
