I had a pine door, and I had to repaint it every half a year because of the damage from the sun and the rain.

Home Depot has a Buying Guide for outdoor furniture with information to help pick the right wood for the environment in your yard: http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/catalog/servlet/ContentView?pn=Patio_Furniture&storeId=10051&langId=-1&catalogId=10053

Teak is always a nice choice for outdoor benches and chairs. You can also apply a stain & sealant to your bench which can prevent water damage and graying from sunlight.

If you prefer wood, then you should definitely go for the long lasting woods like Eucalyptus, cedar and teak. If you like metal benches, make sure they are painted in water resistant color and that they are also rust resistant.

Will not transmit outdoor info. Batteries good- LED lights. Monitor shows indoor temp only.

There are a couple of possibilities for the failure to transmit/receive outdoor data. First, resynch the two units. This will depend on the manufacturer. For some brands, you need to take the batteries out of both the indoor and outdoor units for 10 minutes. Then put the batteries into the devices with both side by side (working inside is easier). Wait until the outdoor data is displayed. There are some weather station systems where the outdoor unit isn't weather-proof. You may need to dry the outdoor unit for several days after removing the batteries before resynching it to indoor sensor.

If the data displays properly when the outdoor unit is inside, you may have the outdoor sensor too far away from the indoor unit. (The distance will depend on the number of walls and the composition of the wall studs/siding.) Try keeping the two units closer together.

If the outdoor data isn't displayed when the two units are side by side and the reset procedure doesn't work. One device has an internal malfunction (transmitter or receiver failed). It's probably best to replace the unit. If it is under warranty, contact the manufacturer.

I hope this helps. For specific details on resetting the indoor and outdoor units to synch them, please add a comment with the make/model of your weather station.

I have a wweather station model no. CE0681The outdoor control no longer tranmits infromation on tempereture to the inside weather station. How do I solve this problem?

There are a couple of reasons that this can happen. First try replacing the batteries in the outdoor control. Also replace the batteries in the base (inside unit).

You may also need to resynch the two units. (For some models, this requires bringing the outdoor unit inside and removing the batteries. Then add the batteries and let the base station look for the outdoor unit.) With the Davis instruments weather station with the solar powered unit, clean the solar panel. You may need to replace the rechargeable battery.

Sometimes, lightning strikes near the weather station external unit causes a surge that damages the unit. In that case, the entire board may need to be replaced to fix the problem.

Please add a comment with the manufacturer for additional information.

I hope this helps.

What are the benefits of wooden outdoor chairs?

Wooden outdoor chairs are solid and sturdy; they won't get too hot or too cold, and they can come in many different types of wood including teak, cedar, pine and oak.

I'm trying to find an outdoor bench that is also a storing box

I have 2 of them in my yard and they are great. I'm using them for storing my gardening tools and they add so much to the garden. My grandmother loves to sit on them when it's warm outside. http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/PVC-and-Steel-Storage-Bench/3174526/product.html

Are metal outdoor benches as comfortable as the wooden benches? They look extremely uncomfortable

It does just depend on the type you are getting.Metal benches can be very comfortable and even more than wood benches, dependson the angle and their cushioning. I suggest that you will try some benchesbefore buying. I can tell you that the metal ones will last longer and areeasier to maintain.
