this typically happens when your PC gets too hot or when the power supply is pushed too hard. I have had similar problem when i upgraded video card with a low wattage power supply. Try running games in lower resolution. If that works and everything seems ok, it may be you need a better power supply...
This error message mean that there isn't video signal from the video card going to the monitor. Try reconnecting the video cable to the monitor. If this does not work then you may have a faulty video card.
If you turn the monitor on with no video cable attached you should get a message on the monitor "Going to Sleep" or "No Signal" if you don't get anything like this the monitor is probably bad. If you can see a message and it is very faint it is an inverter or back light, usually the first in the monitor that is bad.
Monitor is not getting signal - picture from pc. Did this ever work or is this new pc? Is PC running? Does it do more than just blow fans? Like hard drive spinning up etc.. Check your video cable connections. Turn off monitor and pc first. Remove and re plug both ends of the video cable. Look for bent pins in plug ends before re pluging. Try a different cable if possible. If not fixed, you may need a new video card. Is this a pc that was working and suddenly failed? Either the pc is not running, or the video card is failed.
Check to see if your video card is excessively hot. It sounds as if your video card is overheating and going into thermal protection.
A lot of times, when the GPU is damaged it will overheat as one of the final signs before it's impending death.
If this is the case I would replace it.
