My blackberry curve 8520 has a white screen and 3 vertical lines on it.

That means no battery, your lucky. Just go to a phone place and try a new battery. I am assuming you already took the battery out and tried reinserting it. Does the battery have red xx's on the bottom, if so it probably fell on grass and the moisture got to the battery some how.

I have the same problem, but it's a vertical white line.  I have a BB Curve 8310.  From what I've researched on the web, it seems the LCD screen wud have to be replaced.

Sounds like you have a broken LCD screen. Somebody needs to open your blackberry to replace it. Go to your provider, they might replace the phone for you.
