Vinyl on Turntable sounds thin and trebley through Denon AVR-1603

I have just connected up all my Hi Fi up through my newly acquired Denon AVR-1603 and all works OK except the turntable which sounds weak, too trebley etc. I have it connected through the AUX socket on the back.

    Many thanks for your response, Duncan. I have a SONY STR-212L Tuner/Amp which was taken out of the equation when I got the Denon. maybe I could use this to boost the signal between t/table and Denon? Would this work as I didn't want to add more kit?

    Thanks again Duncan. In the end I tried the DVD/VDP input on the back and played with the Surround Mode/Tone Control and got a richer sound. Needs the Vol up higher as well, of course. Thanks very much for your time. JH

You will need an adapter amp which converts the tiny tiny signal from a magnetic phono cartridge up to the line level that you need to feed into your AUX input jacks. They cost about $20 to $30 dollars and can be found at Radio Shack. Unless of course you have a phono input jack on the back of your Denon unit. Good luck.

    It depends on whether it has a magnetic phono input or not on the back.

Denon avr-1603 switches itself off
HI,
Fist of all you have to disconnect all the speakers From AVR. Then switch ON the AVR . If its working normally then any of the speaker or any of the wire to the speaker is faulty. If so connect the speaker back one by one and check on which speaker connection does the AVR shuts off. That speaker or the wire to the speaker is faulty.

If the AVR is not functioning properly even after removing the speakers(shuts off) then there is internal fault with the amplifiers stage. Normally Dry soldering on the amplifier circuit board or any of the output stage is faulty. To rectify the same need professional support.

Two front channels don't work, speakers and wires
First of all please check the mode in which you are operating. Use the tester to see if there is tone on the speakers. Use a good DTS source and swtich over to 5.1 to check for requrired levels. If there is no sound yet, please open the cover and check for the connections to the front channels, check if the relay is clicking. You will have to look into the output mosfets for damage. for this the main board has to be accessed. If you think that you are not able to go deeper into find out the nearest Denon service centre. many such centres do not accept a set if tampered and so you need to be careful not to make it more costly. Hope my advice helps. Good day

Have linked it up to my normal surround hi fi system but no sound. No sound either when connected to my pc.
You asked this question in the TTUSB category. Do you have that turntable and how are you connecting it to the surround sound?

The turntable has a USB port and corresponding EZ Vinyl software that lets you monitor the output of the turntable. Then you can connect the computer sound card to speakers to hear what is playing.

Get some audio cables from radio shack or gamestop and use the regular audio jacks on the xbox to connect to your receiver.  Your video will be HD, but your audio won't.

Output from Denon D-700?
Hi ...

If there's a tape monitor in/out on the D700,turn the tape monitor on and connect the "Play out" phono jacks on the 700 to the line-in on the computer. Spark up the turntable and you should be able to listen to the vinyl on the PC while recording.

Use the Tape Out(rec) connections on the Denon. If that model has a rec out selector, then be sure to select phono as well. All sweet and ready to rip them files!!

AVR-1603 - no Sound exept over Headphones is a weak signal
First check the outputs at the output fets/transistors for any DC voltage. Reference your voltmeter to the speaker - terminal. If there is ANY DC offset, the amp is shutting down the outputs to protect your speakers from DC. Is the power supply + and - 47 volts? If only one supply is there That is your problem because the supplies should be symmetrical. Also look for any wiring problems from the amp to your speakers... any shorts? Try disconnecting all your speakers to totally eliminate any speaker problem and see if the relays still click. You should hear only ONE click when you first turn the amp on (delay of about 2-5 seconds). If they keep clicking the amp outputs are next. Also, is there any indication on the front panel of what is failing?
