Was working fine one day, the next it wouldnt turn on, just like there's not batteries, replaced batteries, still nothing, no sound like its "trying" to do something, just DEAD...? =(
This kind of problem happen because not all of AAA batteries in market are match with canon standards. so changed his mind about using disposable batteries on new models. your camera need new DC/DC board which is expensive(between 50 to 90 dollars). there is video in you tube to how replacing the board. But better suggestion is getting a new camera with chargeable battery.

Have you tried his battery pack in your camera??? if it still does not work your camera probably blew a fuse and repair cost run about 180.00 to repair it. If you need any further help please fell free to ask.
This error is either a flash circuit or a lens error. One of the two need replacement.

It is likely that an internal integrated circuit in the DC/DC board is damaged.
You will need to have your camera reviewed by a qualified technician to have it repaired, since it requires open the camera and evaluate the DC/DC board performance.

I returned my Ixus960IS to Canon for repairs (warranty); it returned with a swapped circuit (they had noted). Working 100% again since.

Hi,
I had the same thing happen to my A590. I found the problem with mine was a micro swtch inside the battery compartment. open the battery compartment and you will see the small white tap that is supposed to get pressed when you close the door. I took mine apart and wedged the end of a toothpick under the tab and mine has been working fine ever since. I haven't been able to get an answer as to what the purpose of this switch is but it's been about 6 months and I have seen no adverse effects from my repair.
Good luck,
Bob
