Hello I have misplace the manual for my Janome 234D. I bought it a few moths ago and i set all the tension right and had it going good. But my young grand daughter got to it while i was out and turned all the dials around . As i have not used it very much yet i still don,t know how to tension it properly with out the manual. Is there anywhere i can download the manual for free. I had turned everything upside down looking for mine it is here somwhere. Thankyou Joanne

Tensions all should be set at "3" for general sewing if there is no other damage or lint trapped in the tension discs.
Try "flossing" each tensioner with a piece of cloth to remove lint.
If you are still uncertain, try 4 different colours and with all set at 3 to begin, adjust to suit what you see to be loose or tight (small adjustments each time)
If the little one has removed the knobs (they just pull off towards you) and turned the white adjustment wheel beneath, you need to set until happy as above, then put the outer knob back with number 3 in the 12 o'clock position.

Most likely, the owner's manual will have information:

Your Janome dealer can also provide you with which needles to use in your machine.

I have a janome 234D overlocker and when I start sewing the first thread (red) comes unthreaded....

This is a tricky problem, without being in front of the machine.
1. check that thread comes thru machine with ease (pressure foot up)
2. rethread machine starting with lower looper (right hand thread)
3. make sure that when pressure foot is down there is some tension on the thread, (sometimes stuff gets stuck in the tension discs)

4. if that fails, suggest having a repair service check it out for you.
